Individual Improvements Made in Football Despite a lack of experience and a losing season, the Pioneer football team showed great enthusiasm in its efforts. Throughout the season the hard hit- ting, tackling, and play in general showed great improvement. Individual standouts on defense were Ken Ber- linger, Most Valuable Linesman, with 44 tackles ana 22 assists and Keith Danreuther, with 3 inter- ceptions. On offense, Bruce Robertson was the leading passer with 18 completions out of 37 at- tempts for 448 yards. Leaaing receiver was Most Valuable Player Loren Terry, with 20 catches for 495 yards. Dennis Mertz, voted Most Valuable Back, led in rushing with 380 yards and in scoring with 22 points. The win-loss record wasn't devastating, but there were achievements gained. Loren Terry was second team All-Conference at defensive tackle and offensive flanker. Bruce Robertson also re- ceived honors on the second unit as a defensive halfback. Wyatt Skaalure was selected as Most Improved Player by his teammates and coaches. With the loss of only 5 graduating seniors from this year's squad, the outlook for next season is quite bright.
