PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE Our society is and has always been a changing society directed by the efforts of its members. I am sure it can be said that with each year we observe change in our school and community some of this change will be obvious to everyone but much of it is of the intangible nature which so often goes unnoticed by those to whom it is happening. My hope is that we continue to survey and direct our efforts so that all of the changes we bring about, tangible and intangible, can be looked back on at some future time with pride and feeling of real accomplishment and not change for the sake of change. One of the most noticeable changes this year, because of its spectator nature, is the lighting of the football field. This project ends the era of the afternoon football games and will set a much different pattern for Saturday evening entertainment in Big Sandy. These lights are a result, in part, of the efforts you as students have made through your organizations. This book is the result of a change in school where its compulsion was the responsibility of students outside of regularly scheduled class time. I congratulate the annual staff, your advisor, the editors, Maureen Sternberg and Sue Bliss, for your many hours of work and persistence.
