PROPHECY These news notes have been taken from the 1980 Big Sandy MOUNTAINEER. MARJORIE BRINKMAN, the famous starlet of the sappy '60s has retired from the theater in order to work on rare tropical diseases in lower Slumgunda. JUDY BUSH has just returned from a world tour. Judy has been studying the head shrinking process used by the head hunters of South America. Tex' LOIS KULBECK DON DRGA, head professor of mathematics at M.I.T., has just recently repudiated Einstein’s theory of relativity. In order to prove Einstein was wrong, Don pushed a but- ton. There has been no trace of him since the dust settled, so it's difficult to say whether Einstein or Drga was right. GARY FOSS Contracting Agency has just signed a contract to paint the Empire State Building. The painters will use two inch brushes, and the job is expected to last at least 100 years. GARY GALVABY is managing a greenhouse for Shore Incorporated. He has been experimenting with dandelions in an effort to discover a rare drug that he claims is present in the flower. So far he has only succeeded in making dandelion wine, which is not new. JOYCE GILLESPIE has just made headlines in the newspapers throughout the country. She is the first woman to be sent to outer space in a rocket ship. It seems that there was some sort of mix-up. Joyce buckled herself into the seat instead of the dummy. SHIRLEY GRUBB has just been arrested in Russia on charges of being a spy for the American government. It seems that her U-18 airplane was shot down over Russian territory. This is unfortunate as the airplane was an expensive model. BILL HANDL has a TV show on the NBC network five days a week. The name of his show is How to Meet and Greet People, and we understand that Bill is giving Red Skelton competition. RUTH HURD is the American Ambassador to Ireland. RAY LARSON, Secretary of State, recently had to bring Ruth home from Cuba where she has been active in starting a revolution against dictator LaVern Nelson. One thing is certain, wherever Ruth goes there will be some kind of action. JANET JENKINS has been voted Mrs. Montana. She and her six boys will win a trip to Mexico City where Janet will A r i ML, be the honored guest of Mexico's great bull fighters, RAY Ml PECK and WILD BILL DELANEY. a.7 ▼ rj BOB KASTE-has finally gotten his bachelor’s degree and is teaching English at a high school in Honolulu. He sAys he u J % l i 10 has some new hobbies - dancing and girls. 1 hm SONDRA SCHWARTZ JANET JENKINS 18

CAROL OSTERMAN wills her midnight oil and her place as valedictorian to Tom Gasvoda. MAY PETERSEN leaves her place as secretary to the secretary to Carolyn Myers. SONDRA SCHWARTZ leaves her beautiful red hair, quiet disposition, and even temper to Sherie Hurd. FRANCIS STACK leaves his ability to be in the senior play and keep his girl at the same time to Vernon Turk. HENRY TURK leaves his ability to be married, go to school, and farm at the same time to anyone who thinks he can handle the job. All the rest and residue of our property we give and bequeath to our principal, Mr. Hammond, for his use and benefit absolutely, and to be disposed of for the good of the coming classes as he may see fit. This includes 25 tattered books for each subject, 25 battered lockers, and 10 worn-out teachers. In witness whereof, we, the Class of 1960, do set our hands and seal this 25th day of May, one thousand nine hundred and sixty. President Vice President Secretary-Treasurer Senior proofs arrive - first period. Sondra S. and Francis S. Senior English Class - concentration? Don and Gretchen Two dignified seniors - Sondra and Lois Happy I am, from cares I'm free - Ruth Hurd

DARLENE KESSLER has recently won the coveted roller skating championship in Big Sandy. Roller skating has really become popular in old Big Sandy, since they put in sidewalks all over town. KARI KEUP has recently shown her fa- mous paintings in New York. The critics' reviews, however, have all been the same. It seems that Kari's pictures all have an eye in them. What bothers the critics is that . , „ she never puts eyelashes on the eye. . GARY FOSS 7 7 DON DRGA CAROLYN KLIM AS has just won the ladies' divisional in the national wrestling matches. She is now on her way to the Olympic Games where she hopes to win a gold medal. It should be interesting as the Russian entry is none other than Mrs. Kruschev. LOIS KULBECK has finished her book about Africa. There is just one thing wrong with the book. It is written in the Kubanji language, and there are no translators in the Western Hemisphere who can translate it into English, and Lois has forgotten how to speak English. RAY LARSON is now Secretary of State and is doing all he can to get Shirley Grubb out of Russia. Ray got a lot of experience in the field of diplomacy while he was presi- dent of the 1960 graduating class at Big Sandy. LAVERN BRET NELSON has recently won Cuba from Fidel Castro in a poker game. Castro thinks he was cheated, but LaVern isn't concerned. He is having trouble growing a beard, though. CAROL OSTERMAN is editor-in-chief of ENCYCLOPAEDIA BRITANNICA and with her able assistant, MARY ANN JIRSA, she has increased the size of BRITANNICA to 313 volumes to a set. The set sells for $4,512. MAY PETERSEN has become a famous song writer. She has done well. Elvis Pres- ley, one of May's idols of a past era, is her chauffeur. SONDRA SCHWARTZ has bought an interest in the Y Texaco Service Station. Things have really been popping around the station since Sondra bought in, especially since they installed a bubble gum machine. FRANCIS STACK is mixed up with some sort of a foreign affair. The newspaper reporters are having difficulty in finding out what her name is, but it is believed that he met her while he was building a bridge in Brazil. HENRY TURK is a successful turkey grower, but he still likes to cowboy on Sundays. Every Sunday Henry puts on a turkey rodeo. There are many thrills and spills when he bull- dogs a turkey. DONNA TURK is generally busy bandaging Henry up after the rodeo. MRS. MAXWELL and MRS. NEAL have now quit teaching and have joined the highway patrol. Their specialty is check- ing headlights and driver's license. MARJORIE BRINKMAN 19
