Sophomores The New Gymnasium (1923) The first school carnival was held in 1920. It consisted of a circus, the sophomore class play, Chautauqua numbers and side shows. Boxing and wrestling matches were held. The main show was given in the evening. Dormitories were opened in the fall of 1921 for students who lived miles out in the country. A charge of $3.75 per week was made for each student living in the dorms.
