Superintendent'a. YYleaaaqe Many people will remember this year as THE YEAR OF THE DOG ; to the Chinese people that will be an official designation for this year, but many will remember it in an unofficial way due to the Russian satellite con- taining a dog. Students of Big Sandy High School will re- member this school year for reasons that are more personal and less world shaking, I am sure. The value of this book will increase as the years slip past. You will never be able to sell it for a great deal of money, of course, but the personal value will increase as it helps you to recall some of the most care free days of your life. A time will arrive - in the not to distant future - when each of you will realize that those horrible school days were quite nice days. As you look back on THE YEAR OF THE DOG, (five, ten or twenty years from now,) you will realize that you were really living, as world events were creating even a more and challenging world for you to face upon graduation. Perhaps you will have solved some of the challenging problems that face us today in the years to come. If you solve the problem of mak- ing high school students realize that they face a much more difficult and challenging time after completing school, your accomplishments will be very great indeed. A sincere well done to the Seniors and Mr. Burley for this fine Yearbook.
