We ushered at Bac- calaureate and Com- mencement for the class of '55 and another phase of our final goal had been accomplished. With the thought of graduation and a diploma in our mind we got right down to business. We noted that three of our former classmates had not returned. They were: Arlene Fisher, Maureen Melton, and Mary Ann Pfrimmer. The officers elect- ed for our last year were: President, Larry DiaconjVice President, Janis KastejSecretary- Treasurer, Esther Berg; Student Council Repre- sentative, Veva Marten; and sponsor, Mr. Burley. We welcomed 28 Freshmen with initiation on September 16. A dance was held in honor of them at the gym. The first thing that faced us was our annual. We signed up with Myers Inc. and got right to work. Dorothy Baldry from Scobey joined us the second six weeks period. Homecoming has been established as a festivity to be held once every five years. 1955 was the year. This year the queen came from the Junior Class and Charlotte Svennung- sen and Dorothy Baldry were chosen as her attendants. It was carnival time again and this year we nominated Janis Kaste and Arlen Ojala for our king and queen candidates. On November 17 and 18 we presented our Senior Class Play, a tremendous Broadway hit in 1940-41, Arsenic and Old Lace. It was a hit again in '55 because under the direction of Mr. Simons, we put it over with great success. FROSH INITIATION UNDERWATER 18 ARSENIC AND OLD LACE ARSENIC AND OLD LACE”

When we returned the fall of '53 we discovered that we had lost Frank Hender- son. He had transferred to Havre. Lynn Johnson joined our class for a short time. We elected class officers and sponsor who were: President, Larry Diacon; Vice President, Arlen Ojala; Secretary and Treasurer, Esther Berg; Student Council Representative, Sandra Kaiser and Sponsor, Mr. Ost. Because we made such a success of the activity ticket party in '52 we were given the honor of doing so again in '53. It seemed to be a highlight in our high school years. This year our candidates for carnival king and queen were Charlotte Svennung- sen and Larry Diacon. But again we weren't the choice of the public. We carried out the tradition of the sophomores putting on the Athletic Banquet, on April 28, 1954. It was well attended. Spring was in the air and it was once again Prom T-ime , and with the Prom comes the Junior-Senior Banquet. The sophomore girls were selected to serve at the banquet. Since spring fever was getting the best of us, Mr. Ost took the biology class on a field trip in the mountains. A very enjoyable day was spent there. To climax our sophomore year Maureen Melton was elected from our class to ride on the Chamber of Commerce float at the May Festival in Havre on May 8, 1954. We came back in the fall of '54 quite enthusiastic with the idea that we were now upperclassmen. David Eve had transferred to Great Falls, but to replace him was Stan Tichenor from Seattle. The officers elected this year were: President, Larry Diacon; Vice President, Janis Kaste; Secretary and Treasurer, Esther Berg; Student Council Representa- tive, Sandra Kaiser and Mr. Burley was chosen as class sponsor. Mary Ann Pfrimmer resigned as cheerleader and Charlotte Svennungsen was elected to re- place her. We lost the Activity Ticket Sales again this year and had to put on the party, October 19, 1954. On November 20, the carnival was held and we nominated Sandra Kaiser and Nor- mand Clixby as our candidates for king and queen. The high lights for that year were the Junior Play, Meet Corliss Archer and the Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom. Our play was held April 18 and 19, and went over as a big hit with lots of laughs. Underwater was our Prom Theme and we carried it out throughout the banquet. A very beautiful job of decorating was done by the Juniors, which kept them busy until tne last minute. We danced to the music of The Melody Makers from Havre. FIELD TRIP MEET CORLISS ARCHER 7

We all got shot! ! Literally speaking that is. Mr. Hester from Billings came down and took our Senior Portraits on November 16. Don't ever believe anything a horse tells you. These are the closing words of a speech given by one of the seniors at our speech breakfast. Miss Hughes and the freshman girls arranged a breakfast for Mr. Simons and us to conclude our speech class. This also brought to a close the end of our first semester of our last year. Since we did such a good job on our other ticket parties and since we had so much experience in entertaining, we again put on the Activity Ticket Party. We danced in the old school assembly to the music of the High School Orchestra. Dorothy Baldry left us at the end of the semester to finish her school term at Dillon, Montana. High School Week was held in Bozeman on May 3,4, and 5. Those chosen to attend because of their scholastic ability were: Veva Marten, Sandra Kaiser, Vera Sanford, and Lawrence Diacon. Early one morning a journey was started and all was quiet. It was sneak day. This is one trip that will never be forgotten. The year was drawing to a close and the honors of graduating seniors were being bestowed upon us. The Junior-Senior Banquet and Prom were held in our honor. The hands of time were moving onward and we were honored at a Senior Breakfast. Quiet Baccalaureate services were held for us on May 27. Commencement was held the following Wednesday. Four years of hard work had paid off well for three of our graduating classmates. Veva Marten had worked her way to Vale- dictorian. For the first time in the history of B. S. H. S. there was a tie for Salutatorian. Sandra Kaiser and Vera Sanford were both named second highest. We had now come to the end of our High School Careers and received the diplomas we had waited for so long. The lessons we learned and the education we received will never be forgotten. 9
