In the fall of '54, the year long awaited, everyone was together again. Three new students had joined us also; Doris Gullickson, Betty and Bertha Youso. To start the year we elected Barbara Ophus, President; Margie Gasvoda, Vice-President; Alvin Donner, Secretary-Treasurer; and Melvin Hoge, Student Council Representative. Our sponsor was again Mr. Hammond. Mr. Rickerd was our Co-sponsor. In September we welcomed 28 green Freshmen into high school with paddles and onions. Our choice for carnival king and queen were Bruce Petersen and Jean Tyler. In December we had our Senior play, The Groom Said No. This was ano- ther step toward the long awaited day--graduation. At the closing of the first semester we were sorry to lose Martha Fry, Dick Fisher, and Betty and Bertha Youso. As school was drawing to a close, the faces of all the Seniors were missing. Yes, it was Sneak Day. Baccalaureate services were held the Sunday before Commencement. At last the long awaited day was upon us. Some are happy and some sad but Sandy High will long be remembered.
