When school opened in the fall of '52 we found 29 Sophomores. Class offi- cers were Bernie Ellingson, President; Jerry Jenkins, Vice-President; Peter Madison, Secretary-Treasurer; and Ben Lund, Student Council Representative. Howard Hammond was elected sponsor. Our carnival candidates that year were Melvin Hoge and Margie Gasvoda. In the spring of '53 we gave the Athletic Banquet. This was served by the Sophomore girls and was cooked by Nora's Cafe. Ending our Sophomore year, the girls served at the Junior-Senior Banquet. When we met again as Juniors we missed the face of Virginia Bitz, but found one newcomer. She was Barbara Ophus. We now had thirty eager students. Our officers were Gene Welty, President; Alvin Donner, Vice-President; Jim Fish- er, Secretary-Treasurer; and Bernie Ellingson, Student Council Representative. Mr. Hammond again was chosen class sponsor and Mr. Miley, co-sponsor. Gene Welty and Mavis Petersen were elected carnival candidates. The Junior play, Seventeenth Summer, was presented in December of '53. In May of 1954 we honored the Seniors with a banquet and Prom. Our theme 19
