HIFH SCHGOT HIGHLIGHTS School got started on September l wmth flfty one students As a surprlse we had tverty 612h+ boys and only twenty three g1PlS Hleh school Freshman I0ltl3t1On was held on the nlght of September 2R The Pollowlnv afternoon the F H A Inltlatlon p1CD1C was held at the Sugar Prove Fore t Preserve The ophomor Shuffle was held October 8 Thls was the flrst dance of the school ye r and proved to be qulte successful huslc was furnlshed by the Country Boys H On October 13 the F F A sponsored an Ice Cream gOC13l and Card Party The 1ce cream was made by the F P l members HAll you could ear' was the motto for the PV6HlNE and no one went home hungry The F H held thelr PPOgPGSS1VG D1rner on October lL The flve course dlnner was held on a cool autumn U1 ht anduas engoyed by all who had the pleasure of attendlng U llowe n The party was open to the publlc and a large crowd attended A Trl concert was f1V6H at Hlnckley on November 7 Mr Wight dvre ted the three bands whlch COHS1St9d of Somonauk, Hlnckley, and Bla Pock Career Day was held at Aurora Colleve on November 10 Th1s was an all day event for oenlors of the surroundlng communltles The h1 hll ht of the month of November for the Junlors came on the 19 when thelr cla s rings arrlved As true, as 1n each Junlor class, thel FlHES became the envy of the school On Novembe 21 a Chorus and Band Concert was held wlth Hlburn, Maple Park, and Blg Rock partlcinatlng Thms concert wa a success due to the runner of comblned rehearals held at Blburn the week orecedlng lt The cr1s1s on Cecember 3 was not a tra edy but only the theme of our uenlor Class Play HI'm a Famlly CP1S1SH proved to be a success at both omr natlnee and evenlnp preformances The hlgh school Chrlstmas Party was held 1n the gym w1th the p esents 5UTPOUDdlUg the lO foot Chrlstmas tree A volleyball tournament b tw en classes was held and refreshments were served by the Student Councll 1' ,1 9 I 1 ' . -' ' 1 I I . . , - . - . . . The end of the year I1 cllmaxed by the F H A Chrlstmas tea Th1s tea is the annual event glven for the Mothers of the F H girls, After a well deserved Chr1stmas va atlon the Sophomores started he new year bv stagmng another dance Music was agaln furnlshed by the 'Country Boys' to the theme of Winter Vhlrl ' The F H A g1PlS sponsored Daddy Date Nlght on January 12th Th1s is the nlsht the 2lT1S entertaln thelr Fathers. On January 19th the Fredr1c Rayd dance studlo came to B1g Rock and pave a fre danc1ng lesson to those who were lnterested The free lesson proved to be a success so the follow1n weak 1 serles of ten lessons were bepun Every one that partlclpat d sefmed to enjoy them selves and as a result we expect future danc to be more successful February lst we were honored by a Puppet Show and the story of D1ck Nhlttlngton and hls cat Thls proved especlally ntertalnlng to the llttle folks We're sure A1106 Grout partlcularly remembers the f1ne talent from Aurora College on February 9th It seems that news about a certaln wanderer traveled to Aurora College, thus prov1d1ng the group wlth a song whlch proved to be qulte entertalnlng for Allce and everyone, On February 13th the Band played a benefit concert for the Polld Fund Tap dancers from Aurora provlded the lance audlence w1th a number of humorous SQ16Ct1OUS On March 3rd, much to our dellvht, we were again honored w1th a choral concert Thls concert wa vlven bv the Elmhurst College Chorus On Aprll 6th the F H A sponsored a Box Soc1al and Record Dance Mr Patchett proved to have a hldden talent for auctioneerlng After havlng a pood basketball season the boys and the1r fathers, and cheerleaders were guests of honor at a Basketball banquet, After a SW19S steak dinner, whmch was engoyed by all, there followed a guest speaker, wh1ch concluded the n1ght's act1v1t1es On Aprll 22nd the Junlors proved that they could act by presentlng Ulf Mother Only Knew H A matlnee and evenlng performance were slven much to the dellght of the hlph school students May hth the F H A presented their annual Spr1ng Show Th1s year for varlety they presented two one act plays and a few other acts whlch the F H.A. thought were quite successful. . . . . , -1 'ff S , .A 0 0 Q .
