FOURTH AND FIFTH GRADES Eunng the year we have had thlrty slx puplls :Ln our room Nancy Nelson moved to I-Ilnckley 111 December, Karen Olsen moved to Malta :Ln March, George Asklns rent back to Elbum, and we lost Dlxle Carleton, who went to Danvllle wlth her mother .Robert Halsey Jolned our group late ln September, and filchard Wllson came :Ln January The year has been a busy one The fourth grade took part in the Chrlstnas operetta wlth the lower grades. The flfth grade made the programs and the glrls acted as prompters arrl stage helpers The faith grade boys were ushers at the program We had a Chrlstmas tree :Ln our room ard the glfts were plled hlgh underneath lt There was a Chrlstmas party wlth lce cream and oookles served to all the grade school chlldren 111 the lunch room. On VaJ.er1t1ne's Day each chlld had a decorated box of h1s own These were placed on the vnndow ledge and many valentlnes found then' way lnto each box Bull LSWILS and George A5kl11S treated everyone to Velentlne C0Ok1eS and Mrs Nazbauer gave us all French pastrles In the fall the room puplls formed a club called the wh1ZZlI'1g Wasps, The purpose of the club was to make our room the best pos slble A candy sale was given by the group ard a tldy sum was made for the use of the room ThlS sum was added to the P T A glft of fnre dollars glven us for havlng the largest attendance at P T A last year Wlth thls money the club bougut new drapes for the windows and ChI'1StI1'B.S tree llghts to be used from year to year Some money was left to help flnance the Mother's Day party The entertammerxt for the mothers was glven the eleventh of May ln the grade school basement All the chlldren took part :Ln maklng a flne program and then eadh one served hls mother mth refreshments It was a happy day for all of us Bes1des our regular mrk we had many educatlonal movles as well as some ,just for fun. The Qmristnas opere++ , 'In Qu st Zzf Santa Clans,' was surely apprtclated by the class Judy Fmkaa had the part. of a llttle glrl who mlsbeh ved and went looklng for Santa Claus Before she found hm she net many fauy folk- both good and bad, too The children of the third grade were snowflakes, sunbeans, gobnns, br0wn1es, am Chrlstmas falries Yes, :Lt was a lot of work for our mothers and teachers But everyone said, It was worth all the work put lnto it Mrs. Lorna Bergman directed the operetta I-n Indlan Unit was enjoyed by our room during the fall The class made an Indian plcture whlch v as on the wall all wzuter and SPTJJE Since the plcture was made by the children- lt was very precioas to each chlld Dunng the sprirg, an irterest :Ln community life developed The boys and glrls worked on many lnberestlng phases of community llfe and history A fe1 trlps were taken about Big Rock to places of buslness and manufactumng Another picture completed this SUIQY The sprlng trlp to the Brookfleld Zoo was engoyed by alla During the Chrnstmas season, the class vlsited the Water- man Fumlture Mart, vdmere they personally talked to Serta Claus.
