KINDERGARTEN me klndergarten was a new project this year Its purposes a.e to help the beginnlng school chald adgust gradually to the change from home to school erxvimrment, to help him learn to cooperate and share with others hrs can age, to help him gain some of the rrdependeme requlred of him in the first grade and flnally, to help ham find a comfortable place :Ln the group of chlldr-en A part of the school cafeteria was curtarned off fcr the use of the kindergarten, and was fitted out viii! puzzles, paints, crayons, hammer, and saw It has been a pleasant spot the mole year th rough. The beginnlng up consisted of Patridc Finley, James Fickas, Gary Beck, honas Thorson, Sandra Hyatt, Bose Marie Jorgensen, Sharon Thomas, ard Cheryl Lerfheit A typical day's program included plans for the day , story tins, songs, games, work and play tune, dramatizatrons, bend rhymes, and short enpe The tnpe were the outgrowth of study units planned for the children. Stories of flremen led to visits to the Blg Rock fire engns and the No 1 Aurora Fire House Stories of cows and dairies preceded trlps to the llooseheart dairy barn and Oatman' Dairy A train ride ani a tmp to the zoo were further hlgh- 11Q'1tS rn the kindergarten year Y FJERST emma The year began with twenty one pupils enrolled. The latter part of the frrst same ster changes began to take place Carolyn Armlntrout moved to Batavia, Henry Harper to Sandwich, while Mano James from Kaneville, and Sharon Wilson from Dixon ,joined our ranks Tre fir st of March found us musing farewell to Bonnle Jones who Wert to Kaneville, Mary Jorgensen to Waterman, Marrlyn Sampson to -Wlbum, and Jerry Gray to Hinckley, whale we were happy to welcome James 'Webster from New York, Rita Deyo from Iowa, Loren Hinchee from Geneva, and our previous classmate, Henry Harper back from Sandwich ' .
