CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1939, thlrteen boys and girls mtered the Big Rock Grade School, and were met at the door by their teacher Miss Marjory Kruth. After this year of school was completed, we entered the second grade w1th two new pupils, Dick Phillips and Georgla Arderson Again our teacher was Miss Knuth The next year came ard we found ourselves in the third grade already Thls year there were three new ones added to our group during the Mass Elizabeth Frey was our teadxer The followang year for our fourth grade we had Mass Bernice Bower as our teacher Thus was the year some of the boys and gurls started enterlng activlties of the school Several of the puplls jolned up with the bard and some of the girls took baton twirling This was all under the dlrectlon of Ur R B Wigmt Bob Ca1lson was added to our class at this tins, and Georgia Anderson mcnred to Plano As we entered the flfth grade we found Miss Isabel Mullen as our teacher Bill Thumw joined ou' class, nelcing a total of seven- teen 1n all Robert Coster made very high grades when he took the state achlevement tests in the mlrldle of the year After our summer vacat1on we cms back to fini Mrs Virginia Bamey ou' teacher for the sixth grade Another boy, Vernon Gittleson, was added to our group. As we entered the seventh grade we found our teacher was Mr Gordon Beels. Thus was the year everyone was busy goirg to bas- ketball gane s. The basketball team was startirg to go places. That year they won twentyh-two games and only lost one. The boys who participated on the team were Bill Thuxow, Ray Evam, Dick Phillips, Bob Coster, and Elton Lesh. Charlene Boyce was chosen to be cheerleader. The team went to Burlington and won first place in the grade school tournanent which was held there. Pat Ormsby and Arlene Jones were in a group who went to the music contest in the spring. At the end of the year a trip was planned by Mr. Beels for us to go to Chicago and see the sigxts. We all had an enjoyable year as seventh graders, and eagerly looked forward to the eighth grade, . . ' I year. They were Dorothy Rogers, Shirley Cooper, and Arthur Titzel. Our last year of grade school began w1th Mr Gordon Beels as our teacher agazm The mln tnlng agaan thls year was basket- ball, and most of the boys went out for lt Charlene Boyce, Pat Ormsby, and Arlene Jones were chosen to be cheerleaders There was another tournament held at Burllngton for grade teams, am agaln we won for the seoorrl sue cesslve year The team won every game vwhlch they played thls year After the basketball season was over, a banquet was held in honor of the boys The annual Chlcago tr1p was planned agaln, and was rrost enjoyable.
