ULASS HISTORY On a fine, sunny, September day in 1943 tif teen very nervous, but nevertheless intelligent lwe thought! students started their career in Big Rock High School The members of our group were Rojean Anderson Warren Cooke Betty Ray Ronald Davis LeRoy Lawrence Allen Thomas Douglas Gleason Violet Miller Donald Thomas Gerald Gum Lawrence Phillips Betty Ness Juanita Hamblen Caroline Nelson Royal H111 Of course we thought high school was just won derful, at first, but really it wesn't too bad The teachers would just shake their heads and sa 'Oh, Well! Poor things, they're just Freshmen W They were quite tolerant When we elected our class officers they were President Allen Thomas Vice President Gerald Gum Secretary Treasurer Lawrence Phillips Reporter -Ronald Davis Mr Peterson was our Freshman class advisor The boys made a good showing in basketball and the girls were active in G A original students We h d lost Juanita Hamblen and Warren Cooke, but we had g lned Mary Ann Baumez In Merch we gained two more students, Gudrun Ronnlng and Robert Reed The Junior class was a little short of man power, so some of our able Gr bles were drafted to be in their pl y Mrs Uglow was our class advisor She was a reel friend to everyone in the class When we elected our class officers they were President Lawrence Phillips Vice President Donald Thomas Secretary Greasurer Betty Ness Reporter- -Royal H111 0 , 5 I . At the beginning of our third ye r we were very sorry to hear of the de th of our former class ad visor, Mrs Uglow, who hed done eo much to help us Mary K O'Connell Joined us that ye r, but we lost Mary Ann Baumez, Betty Ness, and Robert Heed Some of our boys were in the senior cless pley We al o h d 1 clnss pl y which went over quite well It w s fun being in the pl y but I em afraid we taxed Miss Brown's patience It wouldnit h ve been very good if she h dn't been so patient With the proceeds of the ploy we h d the Junior Senior Prom which ll of us enjoyed The boys ng in were etive in b sketb ll When me got our clnss rlng we went to dll extremes to th t everyone got to see them.
