I I Thursday, November 15, was the luckiest day of 1951 for the pupils of Big Piney High School, as the dedication of our new High School took place. Conducting the dedication ceremonies were Superintendent V.R. Cullens and Mr. C.R. O'Neal, school board director. Following these addresses the band played two selections: America the Beautiful and Under the Double Eagle, This was followed by the laying of the cornerstone by Mrs. Sadie Osterhout, daughter ofthe late Mrs. Io- sephine A. Budd. The inscription read: IOSEPHINE A. BUDD MEMORIAL HIGH SCHOOL ERECTED 1951 Thena brief history of the Big Piney Schools was given by Mr. Joseph Budd, grand- son of Mrs. Budd. The cornerstone contained one copy of a B. P. H. S. Annual, one school paper, one Big Piney Examiner, lists of the following: Board of Education, Faculty, Classes and class officers, all school organizations and officers, pictures of the organizations fthat appear in this annualj, current U, S, News and World Report, and coins ranging from lc to Sl. Also in die cornerstone was a story about Mrs. Budd at the time of her hundredth birthday, written by Mrs. Pearl Spencer and a poem commemorating her hundredth birthday written by Mrs. Lora Jewett. . nqqfgy, -: .
