We were very surprised as we entered the City of Big Pjney, it used to be a cow town with a population around 250 but now it is a thriving oil metropolis with a population of 20 thousand. The week's stay in Big Piney has been very enjoyable as we have learned much about our classmates. We were here but a short time when we learned that Susan and Frankie are very happily married and own the biggest Hereford Ranch in the U. S. Later, as we entered the largest Casino in the city we were very surprised to learn that James Carr was the proprietor. While looking over a big, cold glass of milk and talking to Jim we learned that there are still many of the old gang left. Jim tells us that James Meeks is now the coach of a big Athletic Club. We also learn Marilyn is the mother of three children. Her husband, while digging a hole for a clothesline post, struck oil and now they are living on easy street. They each buy a new car every year and Mari- lyn has three big dogs to look after the kids. While watching T.V. we see a familiar face on the screen. To our surprise it turns out to be Martin Neilson, he has his own T.V, show and one of the top Western bands in America. On the same T,V, set we see Nedra's name linked with an adver- tisement for Utah fruits, upon questioning Jim we learn she has one of the largest or- chards in Utah and ships fruits all over the nation. The next day we have to leave because of an engagement in another town, just as we are preparing to leave in our Cadillac we see the name of another old classmate, this time we learn that Alice QGurneyj Edwards is the owner of one of the world's larg- est homes for underprivileged children. It has been a great pleasure for us to learn where all of our old classmates are, but it was also a surprise to learn that we are the only ones who haven't stayed in one place. With our rodeo work we have had to travel. It's time to really be on our way, and so hoping that someday we may be back to Big Piney we leave with a fond farewell. .SY k, iv- Martin Neilson will my height to Donald I-lacklin and my big feet to James Harmi son knowing they can make good use of them , Margie Whitman, will Charles to anyone who thinks they can get him. , Alice Gurney, will my ability to make boys pop the question to all the girls in high school. , Susan Twitchell, will my long legs to Shirley so she won'thave to hang her pictures on the floor. Ourfirst trip this year was to Blackfoot, Idaho for the Idaho State Fair which was held September 14 through 16. This was a big event and was quite interesting. The next big trip on our schedule was to Laramie on September 26 for the state judging contest. We won nothing but gained some good experience, Our annual 4-H and FFA Bull Sale was held October 16, 1951. This year was a record high of the 48 bulls selling at an average of S1060.00. Frank Bray, Jr. had the high-selling bull this year which sold for an even 32000. 00. The next trip was to Casper, Wyoming on April 3, 1952 for the state FFA Conven- tion. This was a big event with boys attending from all over the state. There was an election of State Officers followed by the State Speech Contest. 7. 74,1-Y, The Big Piney Chapter of Future Homemakers of America was officially installed this by the Pinedale Chapter. The officers were installed on the same afternoon, December They are: President ---- - - - IOIE BRADLEY Vice President - - - -SUSAN TWITCHELL Secretary - - - - MARGIE WHITMAN Treasurer ---- - -SHIRLEY DIEBLER Parliamentarian - - - - IOANN MARINCIC Historian -------- - - - MEADA JONES Song Leader and Pianist - - - - SALLY BUDD The club as a group went to Cokeville on October 20 for the Southwest District meeting of FHA, They all enjoyed it and learned a lot about the club that they had all just joined, At the party following the installation the members from both the Big Piney and Pinedale Chapters wrapped gifts for a patient in the Veterans Hospital, The club held a tea for their Chapter Mothers in the new Home Economics room. The Chapter Mothers are Mrs. Francis Tanner and Mrs. Doyle Twitchell. The eight purposes of the Future Homemakers of America are as follows: I. To promote a growing appreciation of the joys and satisfaction of homemaking. II. To emphasize the importance of worthy home membership. III. To encourage democracy in home and community life, IV. To work for good home and family life for all. V. To promote international good will. VI. To foster the development of creative leadership in home and community life. VII. To provide wholesome individual and group recreation. VIII. To further interest in home economics, In fulfilling purpose numbers III and V, our chapter chose observing United Nation's Day by making and presenting the U, N. flag to the school. For the presentation of the flag a skit, showing each nation represented by the flag, was given. P A Wim .mt .X F lL'!'llu a V351 EEUIV' ' 'IWW WE rim!! CHARLES SIMS Drum Major 1951-52 ....-waasffi Y ' Zami The Big Piney Band this year is under the direction of Mr. Hal Campbell, who comes from Utah. We have been doing quite a few things and plan on doing a lot more. There were a few who were lucky enough to go to Rawlins to the Inter-School Concert in December. The best. players were chosen from each school and they all played together for a concert. They were chosen according to their ability to play their instrument. Some of the band have been playing at the basketball games during halftime. When the Punchers went to Cokeville, the band went along and played several marches during the game. They have had some very nice compliments on their playing. Last year in Kemmerer, the band made very good ratings. In their marching they rated 11+ and an 11 for concert music. The saxaphone quartette, Rustie Daniels, Margie Whitman, JoAnne Marincic, and Bernetta Nelson, received a rating of -'111. The band is now getting ready for Kemmerer again this year. , J l 1 A w AWG li A969 vifetftw 4 zz: 1 ldv A 'se K .Q e.. gli' X .4 9 'a o 6 , X9 'iw' nu-5 ig? 46666 The Glee Club has been quite busy this year, First of all, they put on a very nice Christ- mas Cantata, In this they sang the songs of different countries and also a few well known Christmas Carols, The girls of the chorus were dressed in lovely pastel formals. The Cantata was given the 21st of December under the direction of Mr. Campbell, Several of the High School boys and townspeople were also in the Cantata. A few of the girls went to the Inter-School Concert at Rawlins, They were placed ac- cording to their voice, in the large chorus, In the spring, the Glee Club gave an operetta entitled Jerry of Jericho Road. The lead parts were played by Sally Noble and Charles Sims. In Kemmerer last year, the Chorus got a rating of III. They are planning on attending again this year. I' 3 i si 9 1 1 R351 K , - is 'E' !
