SEN OR PROPHEC Y Boy was .Ioia Horton surprised to see us Ueff Wilson and Kerry Gordon Q standing on her porch when she opened the door.'.'.' She very kindly invited us in and we told her of how we were living in the Sierras raising a huge moose herd and searching for the last unicorn. She informed us of how successful her and Brad 's dental clinic was. As we reminesced about old times, she remembered that our ten year reunion was supposed to be this weekend and that nobody had been informed. After talking it over, we decided to go on a quest to gather up the Class of 1 984 for the biggest high school reunion Big Pine had ever seen. As we headed for the training grounds of the L.A. Raiders, where Craig Da vis was getting ready for another big season, we were pulled over by a flashing red light. We prepared for the worst, but were pretty surprised to see that it was Todd Roberts, now captain of the C.H.P. Boy was that a relief' We had a nice escort to the training grounds and then we headed for the computer center of Los Angeles where we heard that Kelly Parrish had been doing very well in the computer world. As we approached the computer center, a big flashing neon sign caught our eyes, it read T.G.I. F. I Tim and Gregs Incorporated Franchisej. Could it be? Was it? We had to Hnd out. Sure enough, as we entered the building and were escorted to the main ofHce, there sat Tim Burns and Greg Llamas, now big executives in the computer world. TWe were all so excited about finding our two friends, that nobody noticed a skinny lady walking into the ofHce. But soon enough a distinguishable laugh made us all turn around to see Kelly standing in the doorway. Greg explained that Kelly was sent out by the top man to keep an eye on all the computer franchises, who was none other than Cliff Arbuckle. We were happy to hear that we could get in touch with Cliff easily, but Greg said Cliff was on one of his three month vacations I which he took once a yearj. We were disappointed to hear this but, we had to move on. Tim helped us by tapping into an airline computer which hooked us up with a nice Lear Jet. We were going to use this to fly to the French Rivera where a few of our classmates were to be found. Crossing over Hawaii and the PaciHc we all reminesced and talked about how life had been treating us over the past ten years. Greg got this gut feeling as we passed over the Himalayan mountains, that we should land there. For once he was serious, so we stopped. It 's a good thing we stopped because as we were drinking Ice Tea, we overheard about the Tiger Lady who lived up on the mountain and was raising seventeen ba by bengal tigers. This could only be one person. As we approached the doorway, we were greeted by a familiar dog named Bo. So even before he opened the door we knew that this was where Cliff spent his time off Sure enough, Cliff opened the door and there was Missie Watts inthe doorway behind him. We were all ecstatic about the Hnd of our class mom!!! She was more than happy to join us on our great quest. We all piled back into the Lear Jet and once again headed for the French Rivera. As we approached the airport and identiHed ourselves, we all noticed how green the Rivera was looking these days. Upon landing, a big parade of Lamborghinis headed towards our plane. We were all wondering if we had done something wrong. We were totally shocked when Marc and Kim Lynes, along with Fred McDaniel, Stepped out to greet us. They had been in the control room checking on their airport when they heard us identify ourselves and had wanted to greet us. We were escorted to their French Rivera which they had purchased with the money from Fred's electronics engineering and Marc's 4-Star restaurants, where we had lunch and some refreshments from the Local Moose Hunters Club. Once again we headed west towards the U.S. Feeling that we had forgotten something, we set down in Turkey to try and remember what it was. As we stopped in the refreshment station, we all took a double take of the man sitting at the bar drinking Ice Tea. It was none other than our Foreign Exchange Student, Onat Bayraktar. We helped him celebrate the birth of his now baby boy named Atuuk Ba yraktar. After quite some time he joined us in our Lear Jet as we headed once more back to the U.S. Cont. on page 84 E SXX . AMERICAN FIELD SER VICE AFS STUDENT FROM TURKE Y ONAT BAYRAK TAR During WWI the ambulance corps called American Field Service worked in Europe with French people. Also during WWII those people were volunteered to work as corps. After WWII those people wanted to continue and improve their relationships with these people they've worked with for years. And they decided to give scholarships to students from those countries. Since that time AFS programs progressed and became common all around the world. Today there are a whole bunch of different exchange programs for American stu- dents in different countries, and a year program for stu- dents in about 60 countries in the world to come to the U.S. Today AFS takes an important place in world peace and human relations with about 60 countries joined and more than 7,000 students sharing that experience every year. We happily landed and put the jet in the care of the nearest airport attendant. We dropped into the nearest honky tonk which happened to be the hugest anyone had ever seen. As we took our seats near the stage, a very familiar man entered onto the stage to introduce the next act. We all recognized him as the one and only John Leonard. As he stepped off the stage he noticed us wa ving at him and he happily came over to join us. We were informed that he and Ric had become very successful in the honky tonk and were now close to becoming millionaires, but he still wasn 't good enough to sing on stage. After wa tching the show, everybody headed towards the rear exit so We all followed. Joey Chitwoodis Stunt Show was just getting underway in the back arena. It was an excellent show and the star stunt drivers turned out to be Don Witherspoon in a V. W. and Da vid Bear in a Jeep. During the show they jumped rivers fDon fell inj, barrels, and other cars. The grand finale featured them rolling their cars all the way across the M1 mile arena. We ran out to see of they had survived and they had. Being happy to see us all, they quit their jobs just so that they could be at the reunion. Our party was getting pretty big by now, so we decided that it would be better to go the rest of the .wa y to B.P. by bus. As we entered the Charter Bus Lines Station, there was only one bus and bus driver left. The driver turned out to be Harv, who gladly said he would drive us back to Big Pine. Once again we were on the road. Not wanting to miss any fun, we stopped in Las Vegas to play some slots. We all checked into MGM and got all of their suites for the night. After a la te night jacuzze and dinner we headed forthe casino. It was a very prosperous night for all of us except Onat who couldn 't understand how to gamble legally. Cliff hit the million dollar jackpot just as we were about to call it a night. We all felt like fainting as the owner of the casino came out to give Cliff a check for the amount of one million dollars. It was Tim fPreppyj Pearce. Tim had done well for himself but informed us that he would not be able to make it to the reunion. He had to stay at work for the weekend because his partner was out of town. Sooner than we knew it we were back in Big Pine at Country Kitchen talking to John Howell, who was still washing dishes. He said that he would join us tomorrow, Saturday, if his Jeep was unstuck from the mud by then. Since it was Friday morning, we all decided to go down to the school and say Hi to all our old teachers. It was pretty strange to Hnd that Sharron Duckey was teaching the fifth grade, Michelle Bacoch was coaching the girls basketball team, Da vid Venters was teaching Science and a Computer class while coaching BPHS football, and Carol Casperson was now the school missionary. All four of them said that they would be at the park on Saturday for the reunion. We all decided to go to Bishop to kill the time until nightfall, so we all headed north, on the back road of course. All too soon we were in Bishop. As we walked around noting all the changes that had occurred in ten years, we noticed that the name of Marjorie Da vid was occupying a plaque on the door of the Indian Law Office. We all dropped in to say Hi and to inform her of the reunion. Then we headed towards the nearest refreshment stand, on the way Howie fell down and scraped himself really bad. We had to take him to the hospital. The emergency room was empty so it didn 't take long for Howie to be wrapped up. I guess we were making quite a bit of noise, so we weren't surprised to see the nurse come out to tell us to quite down, but we were surprised to see that the nurse was Suzanne Story. She was more than happy to join us for the pre-celebration that night. At the celebration we all laughed and talked and scattered pretty quick when a car came driving up. It was Rob Vance who was now coaching the Los Angeles Dodgers. He happily joined our party. The next day will be remembered for years to come, especially by Jamery Ray. , 9?
