Nick is probably the most unique exchange student we’ve had, because instead of sharing just one culture with us, he brought two. Niclas is Swedish, but lives in Spain. He speaks Spanish, Swedish, and English fluently, and is also learning French. (And you thought that last test in German class was hard!) Nick's favorite classes at BLHS included Economics, French II, Com- puter Aided Drafting, and Art 3D. He joined the ski club, which he enjoyed a lot, and says, I only wish we would have more time to enjoy skiing.” Other favorite activities included hunting, fishing, anything to do with outdoor life, and just hanging out with friends. In Spain and Sweden, life for Niclas is a little different. He goes out for such sports as swimming, soccer, and volleyball. And as far as hanging out with friends, over there they usually go out to discotcques or other places for teenagers. But being an exchange student is not all easy. At first, it’s hard to talk to people because you are afraid of saying something wrong. But Nick quickly opened up to people, and took on new terms easily (ex.: awe- some). And it didn't matter that it took a while for him to learn to say “chipmunk. (You had to be in his Art 3D class to really understand.) We will all miss Niclas, but we won't say goodbye. Let’s just say, “See ya when you come back for a visit!” 10 — Leslie Woolston
