Ex Libris Laker Nineteen Hundred Seventy-Six Big Lake High School Big Lake, Minnesota Volume Eighteen Dedication We, the students of Big Lake High School, were very fortunate to be able to enter a new scnool in the fall of 1975. We were given a school we could be proud to attend and one in which we could learn. To show our appreciation, we have decided to dedicate this annual to the taxpayers ot Independent School District 727, Big Lake, Minnesota. Without their help we could not have been able to achieve such a rewarding and useful education. We know we will appreciate what they have done for us throughout our lives. r-4 Class of '76 FALL 3 Christine ahrens curtis allgood Joseph anderson debra bartn 6 deborah ben son 7 bernard eull (picture not available) marty graham mary harstad susan haberman Christine hayes cheryl h an son rose hedin judy gramsey willie harris john now Ian scott oines barbara orrock lori schuette scott Schwab 10 HOMECOMING 1975-1976 The week of homecoming was September 22-26. This was not to materi- alize and the final record was 1 and 12. Of the 12 games lost, 7 were within 6 points. Throughout the season this young team demonstrat- ed hustle, desire and a “Never Say Die” attitude. With seven returning letterwomen for the 1976-77 season, we will be looking forward to a good year. The “B” squad had a remarkable season with a record of 8 and 3. They were young and for many this was their first year in the sport. There are many who will be helpful for the varsity next year B.L. 45 •Royalton 25 B.L. 26 •Isle 32 B.L. 29 •Pier . 40 B.L. 33 St. Michael 39 B.L. 22 •Ogilvic 29 B.L. 23 Elk River 41 B.L. 27 Monticello 33 B.L. 24 St. Cloud Tech 29 B.L. 28 •Holdingford 32 B.L. 16 •Becker 38 B.L. 31 •Onamia 47 B.L. 34 •Sartell 39 B.L. 30 •Becker 31 •Conference games All conference Kathy Bolt Honorable Mention Becky Moshier Leading scorers Kathy Bott Becky Moshier Leading reboundcr Cindy Aubol Row 1. left to right: Cary Krai, Kim Vigen. Big Lake started the season with only two returning lettermen. Our youth and inexperience made for some fairly one sided games early in the season. However, instead of giving up, the team worked harder and by Christmas they were playing much better basketball and later beat two very respectable teams. I greatly en- joyed working with this group of young men with all their hustle and determination. We will miss the five departing seniors, but we are optimistically looking forward to the 1976-77 season. Congratulations to Mark Oltmanns who was all conference and to Chris Shorba, honorable mention; and. to the rest of the varsity squad for their contributions. We had a very exciting week beginning with the Penny Fair Monday night. Tuesday’s activities included a girls and boys basketball game against Becker. Following the game, the Coronation was held in the gymnasium. The traditional “Grub Day” was scheduled as the Wednesday event and on Thursday all interested treasure seekers went on a Treasure Hunt. Another tradition, Blue and Gold Day” was held on Friday along with the Pepfest and basketball game with Ogilvie. The week concluded with a dance Saturday evening. GIRLS TRACK Two BLHS tracksters. Kathy Bott and Cindy Aubol, were responsi- ble for setting two new GRC records during the '76 track season. Cindy set a conference record in the discus with a toss of 101 2%M while Kathy’s shotput throw of 33’5%” set both a conference and school record. Both girls advanced to the regional track competition-Kathy by placing first in the district meet with a 33’9” throw and Cindy by placing second with a 99’2” effort. During the regional meet, Kathy produced her finest effort with a 37’6%” toss and she consequently won herself an opportunity to go to the state tournaments. At the state level, however, Kathy failed to place. Both Cindy and Kathy concluded their junior year in 76, and will have another op- portunity to compete as seniors in 1976-77.
