LAKER NINETEEN HUNDRED SEVENTY-TWO BIG LAKE HIGH SCHOOL BIG LAKE, MINNESOTA VOLUME FOURTEEN The Senior Class of 1972 chose for this year's dedication our three class advisors. Rita Bebo has been a teacher at Big Lake High School for four years. Her classes this year included Consumers Education, Business Law, Senior Math, Shorthand I and Bookkeeping. She supports all activities and especially enjoys coming to basketball games. The main job we throw at her each year is the supervision of the annual. Needless to say, she did a lot of hard work. Thanks, Mrs. Bebo! !! Jan Duncan has taught High School English at Big Lake High School for two years. She is director of the Junior Class Play and also supports many activities. She was very helpful in thinking up new ideas for the many projects the seniors undertook. We all want to thank her also for the free discussions in class and all her help to our problems. Jerry Koshiol also completed his second year of teaching at Big Lake High School. His curriculum includes geography, psychology, sociology, world history, and econom- ics. Due to the efforts of this teacher, we as Juniors, obtained the rights to a pop vending machine. He was also responsible for the educational class trips the seniors took. FALL FROLIC This year's Fall Frolic started out with the Penny Fair, sponsored by the Student Council on Thursday September 30. The bonfire followed the Penny Fair at the elementary school where the coronation took place. At the bonfire Carl Schuller and Becky Knowlton, both seniors, were crowned King and Queen. Friday October 1, we played our game with Becker. Although we lost (0-20) our spirits were still glowing. The Fall Frolic activities were completed by the dance on Friday night. The music was pro- vided by the ANTICS. 18 19 JUNIOR CLASS PLAY “THE SKELETON WALKS” Dr. Harold Fersig ....... Elaine Blair................ Mrs. Madge Embrey........... Bobby Embrey................ After a 6-1 start, they skidded badly to finish with a 7-11 regular season record. But through the good and the bad, the coach and players kept their pride. Following an opening game loss to St. Michael, the Hornets ripped off six wins in a row, including defeats of tough Rockford and Pierz. But after reaching a low point two games away from the end of the season, Big Lake came back to play two tough games against conference co-champion Sartell, although losing them both. The Hornet 'B' squad, dominated by freshmen, showed their inexperience early in the season, but played some fine games, and in addition developed some players who should be able to help the varsity next year. 25 FRONT ROW: B. The order of events was changed, having the Coronation on Monday night, thus giving our royalty the opportunity to reign over the entire week's events. The Coronation was followed by a men's faculty basketball game between Big Lake and Becker faculties which Big Lake won. Tuesday we had a snow sculpture contest, which was a new feature of Homecoming. Each class had an hour to work on their creation, after which the judged picked the 10th grade sculpture as the winner. Wednesday, another new feature was a snow football game between the junior and senior boys which ended in a tie, and a tug-o-war be- tween the junior and senior girls which was won by the junior girls. Thursday was Beat the Sabers1’ day. Friday we had an hour-long pepfest, which featured This is Your Life Tom Kane , several skits, pep talks, music by the pep band, all of which added to our enthusiasm for the game with Sartell that night. Although we lost the game (76-63) our spirits were not dampened. Saturday night a large crowd turned out to dance to the music of the STONE FREE which ended another successful week of homecoming activities. 29 On CM FRONT ROW: Linda Langsdorf, Jackie Borst, Brenda Panayotoff, Roxane Hedin, Linda King, Rita Borst. The final project the council sponsored this year was the 1972 Earth Day program. This was a successful pro- gram thanks to all the cooperation we received from the students and faculty.
