THE BIG LAKE YEARBOOK STAFF PRESENTS THE 1963 LAKER CONTENTS FOREWORD DEDICATION ADMINISTRATION FACULTY SENIORS JUNIORS SOPHOMORES FRESHMEN GRADES CLASSES ORGANIZATION ACTIVITIES SPORTS ADVERTISEMENTS 2 FOREWORD When September arrives And activities start, Much fills our days, We can't tell them apart; We cherish them all, But our memory's not clear, So in order to keep them, We've stored them in here. Now as they all happened, We’ve recorded each treasure, And when we have finished, You can read them with pleasure. 3 DEDICATION To show our appreciation for his willingness to help us in any worth- while thing we strived to do; understanding of our problems, and for his determination and desire to do anything in his power to make our school a better place, and the students in it better citizens, the Senior Class of 1963, proudly dedicate this edition of the LAKER to the esteemed princi pal of our school, Mr. Richard Strand. 4 SCHOOL BOARD Treasurer, Dale Peterson, Chairman, Elvin Person, Director, Donald Holt, Director, Allen Enger, Clerk, Lyle Smith, Director, Clarence Hanson. The fundamental goal of the school systems of our nation today is the endeavor to develop each and every individual to his fullest capacities so that he might con- tribute to the realization of a prosperous nation and a world at peace. The school can only provide the fuels for education, you must provide the spark to ignite and keep it burning. Whatever your goal in life might be, approach it with an enthusi- asm and determination that can only lead to success. 5 Mr. Lloyd Luukkonen Superintendent njin Time flies and with this flight comes an ever changing environment. No generation of students before has ever faced such a rapidly changing so- ciety which has placed so great an emphasis on education. The completion of high school should be Just one phase of a never ending process of learning. May our graduating seniors have the courage and confidence to fact the future, to make the best use of their talents and to learn to give of themselves to make this a better world in which to live. LAKER STAFF 35 PAPER STAFF This year's Lakerette staff spent many hours making an interesting paper for the greatest number of subscribers in several years. News stories shared the spotlight with surveys and feature stories. Much extra effort was exerted to effect the extensive use of color throughout the paper and especially on the outstanding covers. To minimize the difficulty of a new staff to leam the ropes, Advisor, Mr. Lindgren and the editors, hoping that the Lakerette's standards can continue to be raised every year, gave next years staff on-the-job training. The obvious appreciation of the student body made the task of publishing the paper very pleasant and rewarding. Lakerette Staff B. Groenke, J. Bergquist, P. Bemdt, D. Hazeman, L. Anderson, G.
