The Editor’s Corner Editor Barbara Blaney and Assistant Editor Harold Jensen. As the ear comes to a close and everyone goes his separate way, we wish to express our heart-felt thanks to those who have helped us. This includes many people, who have given us financial help, as well their valuable time. To show our appreciation to these people, the editors would like to dedicate the 1970 RAM to the people of Big Horn. For the people of Big Horn are the ones who have given us all our help. Without them, we could not continue to have a yearbook or many other school activities. This is our way of thanking them for their support of our school and especially of the RAM. To reflect our appreciation, we have used pictures from the Big Horn and Story area for our division pages and end sheets. 5

In Memoriam Jack Alan Dow 1951-1970 A TRIBUTE by Warren W. DeJarnett Jack gave much to his classmates: leader- ship by example, loyalty to his teachers and to his school, honesty, dependability and persever- ance in his studies and an inherent competitive spirit. He loved athletics and his quiet unas- suming manner, always giving his very best, was of great encouragement to his teammates. He gave no quarter and expected none in return, but was first to demonstrate true sportsmanship by reaching a hand to a fallen opponent or administering a pat on the back to the penalized or injured. He was an inspira- tion not only to his teammates but to the younger children in the school who would often exclaim, I want to be a ball player like Jack Dow. Jack gave to his teachers and coaches the great satisfaction of knowing true response to their instruction. For twelve years in the pub- lic schools, he averaged an A in the class- room and graduated with the highest honors in his class. He was a member of the National Honor Society and received the University of Wyoming scholarship. The school pattern appeared to be so firmly established that suc- cess in college and a subsequent professional career seemed assured. Jack gave much to his parents and rela- tives. He was obedient, responsive and anxious to please whether it be driving a tractor, working with livestock, attending school or club meetings, or participating in the tradi- tional family athletics. He was proud of his local pioneer heritage and was pleased when those discussions related to his family. While Jack lived only 19 years, he gave a measure of excellence that is seldom sur- passed. While his passing is untimely and seems almost too much to bear, his life will be an example for many to follow and will seem not to have been in vain.
