In a popular ballad of the day, we hear expressed one of the great contradictions of the times. The sign of the Zodiac is right, we are told, for the dawning of a new age’’ of peace and harmony. Yet we all know of the injustice and inhumanity the world seems to condone. When we pause to reflect on the theme of this yearbook, Youth—A Paradox,” the contradiction becomes more ap- parent. Young graduates of today are told: You are edu- cated; go out and create a new and better society.” But the world seems to be saying in turn: You are young and immature—wait your time and all things will come.” This is the real paradox of which the song is sung, and for which your theme was chosen. The age of Aquarius may be upon us, but an ancient world seems reluctant to accept the demands of impatient youth. Thus we read of the con- flicts of society over the Hippie movement and the war and draft protesters. Here at Bexley, we have tried to teach you many things. More than anything else, however, it is our hope that we have taught you the one great rule of change. That the progress of mankind through the ages has always been frustratingly slow, with many halts and slips along the way. But in spite of all, the struggle has been ever forward. With faith in your ability to add patience and knowledge to a new and better world, we extend you our very best wishes for the future. William J. Gregg C. W. Jones, Principal The Administram Dr. William Gregg Dana Swinehart, Assistant Principal
