DEDICATION To John F. Schacht — beloved teacher, author, and devoted friend — who has in- spired and encouraged his students, we respectfully dedicate this book. It seems particu- larly fitting that we dedicate our book to one who not only has brought light into many lives, but also has given graciously of his time and patience. Mr. Schacht came to Bexley in 1932 and has since compiled a laudable list of achieve- ments. He is the author of many textbooks among which are Contemporary Geometry and Contemporary Algebra and Trigonometry. Mr. Schacht, as recognized by Life Mag- azine, was the first to introduce mechanical aids — Schacht’s dynamic devices — to the study of plane geometry. It is in respect to his accomplishments and in admiration of his service to his students that the Class of 1967 dedicates this book to John F. Schacht.
