Musical assembly highlights Student Council year The sensational Thurlow Spur and the Spurlows captivated a responsive Bexley audience in one of the most enjoyable assemblies of the year. This group, which is sponsored by the Chrysler Corpo- ration of America, tours the country giving con- certs and promoting safe driving. Popular and patriotic songs comprised the program, which ended with the presentation of a safety plaque to Mr. Click. Other activities of this year’s Student Council included the establishment of the Organization Coordinating Committee. The O.C.C. was designed to set up meeting schedules for each week in order to avoid conflicting meetings being scheduled on the same night. However, the O.C.C. did not ac- complish its purpose and was discontinued before the end of the first semester. Overshadowing the failure of the ill-fated O.C.C. was the success of the Kentucky Project. Bexley students contributed clothes which were sent to the people of Essie, Kentucky, who sent Christmas greens back in return. The greens were used to decorate Jeffrey Mansion for the New Year’s Eve Dance. Student Council’s other money raising projects for the year included the operation of the popcorn and apple machines. Student Health Council sponsors annual TB tests “I know I’ll just faint!” “I’m so scared I could die!” These were the remarks of Juniors as they stood in line of fire—the shots they received, however, were the tuberculin tests that Student Health Council sponsors in coordination with the Tuberculosis Society each year. The tests aided the Tuberculosis Society in detecting early cases of tuberculosis and also helped to further the Society's progress in attempting to eliminate tuberculosis. Various other projects were sponsored by the council. Among these were the United Appeals drive in the fall, during which contributions were accepted from the students and the teachers. The Council also sponsored a blood drive in which members of the community were asked to donate a pint of their blood in order to help build up the Red Cross supply for Frank- lin County. In addition, the council collected emergency cards from the students. These cards supplied the office with vital information about each student that would be necessary in the event of an accident.
