Musical assembly highlights Student Council year The sensational Thurlow Spur and the Spurlows captivated a responsive Bexley audience in one of the most enjoyable assemblies of the year. This group, which is sponsored by the Chrysler Corpo- ration of America, tours the country giving con- certs and promoting safe driving. Popular and patriotic songs comprised the program, which ended with the presentation of a safety plaque to Mr. Click. Other activities of this year’s Student Council included the establishment of the Organization Coordinating Committee. The O.C.C. was designed to set up meeting schedules for each week in order to avoid conflicting meetings being scheduled on the same night. However, the O.C.C. did not ac- complish its purpose and was discontinued before the end of the first semester. Overshadowing the failure of the ill-fated O.C.C. was the success of the Kentucky Project. Bexley students contributed clothes which were sent to the people of Essie, Kentucky, who sent Christmas greens back in return. The greens were used to decorate Jeffrey Mansion for the New Year’s Eve Dance. Student Council’s other money raising projects for the year included the operation of the popcorn and apple machines. Student Council Officers: Brent Blackshaw, Presi- dent; Dianne Krech, Secretary-treasurer; Bruce Byrnes, Vice-president. Cini helps maintain Student Council budget by popping com. Page Twenty-eight
