Hope comes to Y-teens Jackie Harris, a former member of the ship Hope visited the Y-teens club this year. She told of her two years of service on the vessel and an- swered questions about the ship. She supplied in- formation concerning the history, purpose, and activities of the ship, and she told how people can become members of its crew. The service committee of the club again spon- sored the city-wide Links program. Links is an organization in which Y-teens’ members volunteer their services to help in various rest homes, chil- dren’s homes, and hospitals throughout the city. Some of the club’s annual events were the “Y-teens Round-Up” rush party, the “Around the World in 80 Dishes” dinner, the singspiration, the Hi-Y-Y-teens basketball game, the Mother's Day Tea, and the Senior Farewell. After a day of seeing these men at their . duties, there was a group discussion period during .vhich the students passed resolutions and bills vhich had been submitted by the participating schools. Whitehall, Eastmoor, Walnut Ridge, and Brook- raven were a few of the schools that joined 3exley this year in the sports competition of the Jolumbus Hi-Y League. Hi-Y also sponsored a dance following the Bexley-Grandview basketball I ?ame. The Nomads provided music for a turn-out T forty couples. Other Hi-Y projects this year in- I duded the Thanksgiving program and the annual di-Y-Y-teens basketball game. BAC opens way for sports Operating under a new constitution this year, the Boys’ Athletic Club reached new heights. The new constitution changed the club’s name to Boys’ Athletic Club and also added an improved system of awarding. During the year, BAC maintained its chief function of providing all boys with an intra- mural program. During the year, BAC experienced fierce compe- tition in their numerous activities. Participation was spirited between basketball quintets as well as between the touch football teams. Volleyball games were again held in conjunction with GAC. BAC stimulated great interest in the bowling com- petition with boys from other schools this year. The club sustained its treasury through the sale of concessions at football and basketball games and through the collection of dues. BAC Officers: Rick Grove, treasurer; Kurt Krauss, president; Jack DeVennish, vice-president; Dan Sharkey, secretary. Matt Gayley does a shoulder stand on the parallel bars. GAC Officers: Mary Ahrens, secretary; Martha Milbourne, vice-president; Carol Godofsky, intra- mural manager; Carolyn Schneider, president; Susie Miller, treasurer. Laurie and Julie hold a stand for two other gymnasts. GAC turns back clock High school students reverted to their youth at GAC’s “Come As You Were” rush party. The girls dressed in diapers, T-shirts, and dresses that came way above the knee. Sportsheads sat down to Carolyn Schneider's fifth birthday party. Camp Muskingum was the sight of a week-end leadership camp in October. Carolyn Schneider, Carol Godofsky, and Mrs. Rogers were the Bexley representatives among 200 Ohio students and teachers. The camp’s purpose is to instill in the students a feeling of responsibility and to teach them new ideas for intramural and interscholastic programing. During football season GAC sponsored a dance with a “Battle of the Bands” as the main attrac- tion. In November GAC had a mother-daughter style show sponsored by the University Shop. Other planned activities for the year included a bake sale and a rummage sale. As a special inter- est project GAC made up Christmas packages for soldiers in Viet Nam. Hockey Night and basketball Class Night were among annual events sponsored by GAC. Carolyn Schneider was named 1966 Sports Queen. Page Twenty-six

Musical assembly highlights Student Council year The sensational Thurlow Spur and the Spurlows captivated a responsive Bexley audience in one of the most enjoyable assemblies of the year. This group, which is sponsored by the Chrysler Corpo- ration of America, tours the country giving con- certs and promoting safe driving. Popular and patriotic songs comprised the program, which ended with the presentation of a safety plaque to Mr. Click. Other activities of this year’s Student Council included the establishment of the Organization Coordinating Committee. The O.C.C. was designed to set up meeting schedules for each week in order to avoid conflicting meetings being scheduled on the same night. However, the O.C.C. did not ac- complish its purpose and was discontinued before the end of the first semester. Overshadowing the failure of the ill-fated O.C.C. was the success of the Kentucky Project. Bexley students contributed clothes which were sent to the people of Essie, Kentucky, who sent Christmas greens back in return. The greens were used to decorate Jeffrey Mansion for the New Year’s Eve Dance. Student Council’s other money raising projects for the year included the operation of the popcorn and apple machines. Student Council Officers: Brent Blackshaw, Presi- dent; Dianne Krech, Secretary-treasurer; Bruce Byrnes, Vice-president. Cini helps maintain Student Council budget by popping com. Page Twenty-eight
