The TORCH is no exception in this regard. Under the leadership of Editor Jack Dickey and Assistant Editor Gayle Caplan, it strove to reflect the ideas of the students through editorials on current issues. Under the guidance of page editors Glenda Schottcn- stein, Susan Ross, and Karen Mercer, the TORCH pre- sented better news coverage and livelier features. eff Schwartz kept Bexleyites up to date with a comp ete sports picture. Irene Humphrey, Cirls' S orts Editor, helped to push feminine enthusiasts into tile limelight. To pay for the ten issues published, the TORCH sold many new advertisements. The staff also published the Dial-A-Date, student address book, complete with yellow pages, and sponsored two dances. In addition, TORCH staff members found time to participate in various work- shops and competitions. During the summer eight mem- bers attended a journalism institute at Indiana Univer- sity, where they won sixteen awards. They also took part in a workshop sponsored by the Central Ohio High School Press Club and a Journalism Association of Ohio competition. Both times their efforts were fruitful. Much of the real applause for the success of the TORCH should go to Mrs. Sara Amos, faculty advisor. Without her patience and understanding, the TORCH would not have attained the position which it now maintains.
