Department aims not only to improve skills and deepen interests which girls already have, but to create new interests and to safeguard health. It attempts to have every girl participate in planning her own program, setting her own goals and outlining the steps by which she can achieve these goals. Through daily experience it tries to enable every girl to grow in self-direction.

One of the main aims of the social studies department is helping to give students a broad understanding of the development of our institutions and social environment so that they may be better able to adjust to rapidly changing conditions. Great importance is placed upon becoming independent thinkers and useful citizens while developing critical thought and tolerance of opposing ideas. The Boys' Physicol Education department places important emphasis on the development of skills in tennis, badminton, swimming, diving, track, basketball, football, softball, volleyball, weight training, dancing, golf, and carry-over activities. A knowledge of the rules, techniques, and strategy in these activities is taught and expected. Safety skills, proper social standards, respect, cooperation are some intangibles which can only be gained in a working atmosphere of activity with peer and authority. There are study units on health habits, first aid and school and community health through the medium of specific class instruction.
