Creativity of curriculum and excellence of teaching staff combine harmoniously to produce Beverly's nationally known English department. Major emphasis is placed on coherent writing and speaking, logical, clear thinking, objective analysis of literary works, and reading comprehension are also stressed. A sequential pattern of composition writing is followed throughout the four years covering expository, narrative, descriptive, an$J persuasive approaches, literory selections are introduced with a balance of classic and modern and a variety of genre, theme and time period. This department is concerned with each student and his needs and strives to encompass all individual requirements. The honors and Advanced Placement programs are outstanding and ore devised to turn out an intellectually well rounded person.
