The Beverly Hill Board of Education wants the best school system that can be built—a system that is second to no other in the country. The Board of Education believes that a superior individual scholastic achievement should be the rule rather than the exception in the Beverly Hills Schools. It expects genuine educational leadership from the school administration and wants a teaching staff composed of distinctly superior individuals who will set high standards of achievement for all students. The Board of Education desires that the program of education be such that it will challenge the best students as well as others to achieve the maximum of their individual capacities.

Dr. Robinson has boon actively at work this year on Flexible Scheduling. The program will alter nearly every aspect of school operation, bringing changes in curriculum content, teaching methods, class organization, and school staffing. The primary emphasis of the program will be independent study and research. During his independent study time, a student will be able to go to a special resource center to do research work or receive help from a department teacher. The Board of Education has given its enthusiastic endorsement of the plan which will be phased in over a 2-year period starting in September.
