WORK STUDY The Work Study Program is an out-of-school experience requiring a minimum of 20 hours weekly in a job utilizing aptitudes and requiring skills unavailable in the class- room situation. The students should be at least sixteen and eligible for graduation at the end of the school year in which they are enrolled in the program. If a student is unemployed, a period of two weeks is allowed to secure a position before the student is rescheduled for a full day of school. The combination of classroom instruction with work experience should encourage a better academic achievement and better self-discipline. Diane Dobson and Kelly Bechard in the mailorder room . . . This year there are two foreign exchange stu- dents at BHS, Ismail Ayduk and Eva Bryntes- son. Ismail, our AFS student from Turkey, is liv- ing with the Woronoff family at 2 Pine Knoll Drive and prides himself on being an avid member of the Marci Miles fan club. Ismail plans to attend college for two years and then return to the U.S. He appreciates the higher standard of living here as well as the cordial atmosphere. Eva, an SIS student who came to Beverly after attending a high school in Long Island, also Plans to attend college, but in the U.S. In her short time here she has observed that kids in Sweden mature much faster and, therefore, have more freedom and greater re- sponsibilities, such as open campus.
