As we contemplate the overall growth and advancement of the community to a city of beauty and charm, we cannot but reflect on what has been a parallel growth in its educational department. But the schools have not merely paralleled the growth of the community and served as transmitters of the traditions of the past, they have also contributed to the training and accultura- tion of several generations of Americans who have in turn made their talents available to the community and school system. The present high school is an example of their enlighten- ment. Through the foresight and perseverance of a concerned citizenry, the present City of Beverly has been provided with a high school whose facilities have brought to it educational con- ventions, sport jamborees, and visiting educators. The school plant with its extensive possibilities for instruction and extracur- ricular use is making Beverly High School one of the leading educational centers in the Commonwealth. As the City continues to grow and need leadership, we are hopeful that the graduates of the Class of 1968 to whose fore- bears we are all presently beholden will demonstrate the loyalty and convictions which have brought the community to its flour- ishing present.
