ENGLISH DEPARTMENT This year, besides continuing its regular work, the English Department, headed by Mr. Edward Watts, was planning for the Transition To the new school. Among the courses offered were Those for general, business, and college preparatory students. The Oral Communications course was expanded to meet a growing demand. New reference books and text bboks, such as unabridged dictionaries and self-teaching books were purchased. With all the changes, however, our three traditional school publications continued to meet their deadlines. The B.H.S. NEWS published by The English 4 Journalism class under the direction of Mr. Emery Hollerer, kept us informed of the latest school events. The AEGIS, supervised by Miss Frances Trowt, provided us with a chance to enioy the literary Talents of our fellow students. Beverly High's yearbook, the BEVERLEGA, headed by Miss Isabel Harriman, furnished us with a memento of the past year's activities. The Dramatic Club, under the direction of Mrs. Marta Dennis, offered an outlet for those with theatrical ability.
