Let's join the reception committee as our illustrious guests alight. A hearty cheer arises for the crew of pilots: Gordon Ferris. Beaver Nelson. Paul Laventure, Robert Munson, and Irving Knight fwho have been so successful in guiding the monstrous rocket safelyj and stewardesses, Lorraine Christie and Carol Flynn. Following the silver bird as it is towed to its hangar by garagemen, Albert Roderick and George Larcom. we meet the Skitball Marine Division on the empty runway, practicing their marching maneuvers under Sargeants Alvin Pofcher and Stick Crowley. Among the group are Privates Nick Galluzzi, Louis Doucette, Phil Burt, jimmy Clemino, Harry Garabedian, Burton Hawkey, Daniel Reina, Paul Ayers, and Robertjutras. Inside the hangar we talked with the rocket's famous inventor, Doctor Alexis Ushakoff, jr, Everywhere in this great hangar we observe in action the vast forces which have made his great scientific discoveries practical and possible. Among his famous staff are engineers, Fred Dinkin, Kent Zeilon. David Whitaker, and jimmy Atwood, draftsmen, Dick Hannon and Paul Larcomg machinists, Clarke Sutherland, Vlohn Hurly, Leonard Mercaldi, Donald Gibbs, and Everett Ryan, and mathematician, Leslie Sigman. Here are the seven highly trained mechanics who keep the rocket in top-top condition. They are 'Iohn White, Clifton York, Larry Filippetta, Alfred Chouinard, Ralph Innocenti, Ronald Nunes, and Thomas Macaro. In a special shop, pattern-makers,john Ambrose, Billy Creesy, and Bob Berry, sheet metal maker, john Papa, and welder, George McEachern are working to construct a second larger space ship under Alexis's instructions. In another end of the hangar mechanical designers, Bob Bishop and Paul Galuzzi are working with engineers, Francis Libert, Fred Wfhite. Art Rockwell, Billy Pooleg and draftsmen, Philip Rogers and Alfred Thibault, to develop a special windshield wiper to keep the stardust from our pilot's eyes. Is it possible? Next, we go upstairs to the headquarters of the base. Here Commander-in-chief Smith. Assistant Commander Kishon, and Commanding General Pietrini work hand in hand with jimmy McPherson, President of the United Planets' Council for Interplanetary Peace. Aided by General Advisors Tosier and LeBlanc, Commanding General Pietrini, with Generals Mattson, Kenney, and Dawson, directs the Executive MajorseCinny Tucker,'Rabbit Parisella. ,limmy Duffy. Phyllis Smith, Billy Lewis, jackie Fossiano, Dick Golickhlimmy Him,jack Brad- ley, Billy Conley, and Rita Why Fight It? Rossi-who make all the important decisions concerning the base. Outside the rooms of the inner-sanctum, we Find a number of spacious business othces. Oh, look! There's Eleanor Martin, private secretary to Ernie Flint, one of our business administrators. Why, here he comes with his co-workers, Dick Booth and Richard Woodbury, followed by their special secretaries, Gladys Whalen, Carolyn johnson, Maureen Murphy, Hilda Lamberti, and Barbara Charland. Hellol How are you? Hello, Ernie! How'5 business? Oh, here are Mary Wood and jean Hook to wait on us. Do any more of our old friends work here? I-541 Oh, hue! I have just hired two new bookkeepers. Rosie Richards and Sylvia Liberti, to work with Hazel Fellows and Timothy Walsh, two new comptometer operators, Beverly Camire and Mary Laramie, and two C. P. A.'s, Bruce Abbott and David Tonneson. Everything's happening in two's today. Say, you'll meet a lot of people you know around here? Here are Nancy Ganey, Rosalie Cohen, ,loan Fitzpatrick, Priscilla M. Allen, and Molly Latorella, our general secretaries. You remember them, don't you? And there are Rayvl udd, Warren Hyde, Sally Churchill, and Frances Bullis among our ofhce workers. Oh, there are Priscilla Carr and Frances Lynch! Yes, rhey're two of our hnest typists. By the way, have you met our telephone operators? No. Why, they're Ginny Hearn, Marcia Ober, Elizabeth Marcucci, and Marie Proulx? Hi, girls! 1 v I guess we'd better hurry if we want to see the new supersonic radio-radar and wea- ther tower. It's almost lunch time. I'm sorry you can't stay longer, but we'll probably see you again before the day is over. Goodby, Ernie! Now for the supersonic tower. It's nice out here in the court, isn't it? Isn't that the crew of the battleship, Beverly, marching straight toward us? There's Gordon Sweeny. Leonard Carry, Renny Burnham. Bob Peterson, Randy Hansbury, Ronnie Prince, and Norm Bushy under the direction of Mates Dick McKenny, Stan Fredrickson, and Cabot Broderick. You know, they were on the High School when it nearly capsized in a hurricane off the coast of Florida, but like true sailors, they refused to leave it until the captain ordered them off. Entering the oihce in the tower, we are dazzled by a bevy of beautiful secretaries, Nina Perkins, Nancy Denault, Josephine Cristoforo, and -lane Herrick, who record all the radio. radar, and weather reports. Heading for lunch we meet the Bean Shooter Division of the Army under the com- mand of Rodney Maxner. There are Bob Wile, Ed Wolneiwicz, Dick Alexander, Bob Anderson, Paul Caverly, Tom Connollyxjean L'Italien, and joe Vergari, the luckiest card player in the U.S. Army, bringing up the rear. Page, class advisor. we obtained a ballot box and voting booths, so that we could conduct the election in the same manner as civil. state, and national elections. john Wallace emerged victorious in the contest for the oiiice of class president, and David Crowley. with the second highest number of votes, became vice- president. Thomas DiPaulo was elected treasurer, and Eleanorjohnson, secretary. When the time for the annual Drama Night arrived. the sophomore class presented its hrst play, entitled Five for Bad Luck, starring Constance Farrell, Barbara Scanzani, David Duff. jean Hansbury. Gloria DePiero, Francis Welding, jack Altshuler, and Arthur Bower, Our Sophomore Dance. which soon followed. turned out to be a great social success. Under the direction ofMiss Eleanor Warren. Thomas DiPaulo, assisted by Sophomore Home Room Treasurers. began the collection of class dues, The sophomore class responded very well to their first year's payment. Miss Gretchen Ray, faculty advisor, very ably supervised the social functions of the class. Time passed quickly, and before we knew it, we were commencing our second year at B.H.S. The -lunior Class Election showed little change in otlice holders. john Wallace was re-elected president, Arthur Bower took the oflice of vice-presidentg Tom DiPaulo retained the otlice of Treasurerg and Eleanorjohnson continued to be secretary. This year on Drama Night the junior class walked away with top honors in the yearly class competition by presenting Pinks and Patches, starring Constance Farrell, Gloria DePiero, janet Hall, and David Duff. Miss Helen Ryan. dramatic coach, decided that this play fwith the same castj would represent Beverly High School in the Massachusetts Drama Festival. The Frosty Frolic. a dance sponsored by the junior class, january 14th, was thorough- ly enjoyed by all who attended and was declared a grand success both socially and financially. Deserving special mention is Eleanor Commo who won the school Voice of De- mnimiy contest. Many junior students participated in all the helds of sports at Beverly High. Special mention goes to Norman Grahfam. who was elected captain of the track team of 1952, and to David Roundy and William fRedj XX'allace. who were elected co-captains of next year's football squad.
