Glhrisimas Ghpereiizt THE HAPPY CHRISTMAS TREE Directed by Mr. Allen Schulte The Christmas Opetetta, held December 18, 1962, opened in a lot where Christmas trees were on sale. The salesmen discovered a misshaped tree and cast it aside. All the trees had been sold when Billy, a poor newsboy arrived seeking a tree for his widowed mother and little sister. Bi11y's disappointment was turned ro joy when he discovered the discarded tree and was told he may have it as a gift. On his way home Billy met a group of children playing soldier. At first they made fun of his tree, then borrowed it that they might sing a Christmas song and dance around it. The dance got rough and the tree was broken. Billy was heartbroken at the loss of his tree but is comforted by a group of Carolers who happened by. All were excited when Santa Claus arrived. Santa told them he had made this special visit be- cause a deserving newsboy was in need of a Christmas tree for his widowed mother and little sister. Billy was speechless when Santa Claus presented him with a beautifully decorated tree. Then all joined in singing Christmas songs. as f -V YES
