In 1951 we entered High School withanenrollment of 14. We went half a year in the old build- ing and the last half in the new one. One of our first and most dreaded duties as freshmen was to receive our initiation. We were all rather frightened at the thought of swallowing an oyster and some of the tricks used, but we found it not too bad and a lot of fun. We were an active group during our high school career. As freshmen, we had one of the cheerleaders, Joan Day Burd. We had three members in the music clinic, Jim Lynch, Eddie Lyndi, and Ronny Robinett, Ronny received a superior rating in the State Music Contest. We had several members on the baseball team also. Our class officers were: RonnyRobinett,PresidentgLarry Robinett, Vice-Presidentg Eddie Lynch, Secretary: and Donna Schwochow, Treasurer. Our class sponsor was Miss Kemp. Coming into our Sophomore year in 1952, we lost Joan Day Burd which cut our class member- ship to 13. This year it was our turn to hand out the initiation to the freshmen. To hear us talk, you would have thought we were going to murder those poor kids, but we really didn't. In fact, some of us came closer tobreakingaleg just trying to be mean to them. We had two of the cheerleaders in our second year in highschool, Carolyn Feterle and Donna Schwochow, Several of our members were in the one act play, The Phantom Gentleman. Eddie Lynch, Jim Lynch and Ronny Robinett were again in the Music Clinic. Eddie received an excellent rating and Jim received a superior rating in the District Contest. Ronny again received a superior rating in the State Contest. We had several of our boys on the basketball and baseball teams. Our class officers this year were: Norma Scherger, Presidentg Ronny Robinett, Vice-Presidentg Donna Schwochow, Secretaryg and Bonnie Sullivan, Treasurer. Our sponsor was Miss Haynes. Starting our Junior year in 1953 we lost another member of our class, Norma Scherger. making a total enrollment of 12. AsJuniors, we put on our class play, Good Gracious Grandma, which was a booming success. We also raised quite an amount of money selling refreshments at all the home basketball games, and we were very fortunate to be allowed to sell the refreshments at the County Baseball Tourney. After earningall this hard cash, we spent it on our J unior-Senior Banquet which we thought very nice. We banqueted the seniors in the School Cafeteria and then took them to Toledo to the Sports Arena for the Sonja Henie Ice Show. As Juniors, we had only one of the cheerleaders, Donna Schwochow, five boys on the basketball team, which was County Champion, and six members on the baseball team which was District Champion. This year Carolyn Feterle, Jim Lynch, Donna Schwochow, and Ronny Robinett participated in the Music Clinic. Jim received another excellent rating and Ronny a superior rating in the State Contest. We also put out the school paper, The Breeze, every month. Our class officers for this, our money making year were: Norma Scherger, Presidentg Donna Schwochow, Vioe-President: Janet Shriver, Treas- urerg and Ronny Robinett, Secretary. Our sponsor was Mr. Liston. Finally in 1954 we entered our Senior year with 12 members in our class. This is our year to receive our banquet from the Juniors and it was quite nice. We again had two cheerleaders, Donna Schwochow, and Carolyn Feterle. We had five members on the basketball and baseball teams. In early November we presented our class play, Mumbo Jumbo, with some very capable help from the Junior Class. The play was a big success and we all were pleased with the support of the J uniors. Some of the Seniors were in the One Act Play, Comin' Around the Mountain, which was presented in the County Play Fest. This year wehad Eddie Lynch and Donna Schwochow in the Music Clinic. As Seniors, it was our duty to publish the school yearbook. We hope we did this job as well as the classes that preceded us. We also published the school paper each month. Eddie Lynch was the Editor and did a very fine job keeping us on the stick getting the news ready. Our class officers for this, our final year were: Larry Robinett, President: Eddie Lynch, Vice-Presidentg Eldon Lynch, Treasurerg and Donna Schwochow, Secretary. Our sponsor was Mr. Shumaker. CLASS PROPHECY I overheard a conversation, on the telephone, the other day 119655. It was rather surprising to hear what had become of the Class of 55, from Bettsvillel The conversation went something like this, Did you hear about that great Band Leader of the Roland's Rhythm Rockers? They're playing at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in Florida. The Leader is none other than our own Ronny Robinett. well, what do you know! That Ted Collins is a big Oil man in Texas, now. He spends most of his time taking baths in the Oill Say, I hear that Eldon Lynch is running for Governor of Ohio! He ought to win, because he can sure talk enough to get into office! CY es, and no doubt, right back out againlj It seems we- have two Speed Demons from our 55 class. Bill Long got a very beautiful trophy last summer, for a grand show of speed on his Motorcycle. He succeeded in only breaking two legs and fracturing his skulll . . . Gi, Yes, Jim Lynch is in Speed Boat racing now. Incidentally, he recently won S1,000. But after an hour of artificial respiration, he looked up at his lovely wife, from Old Fort, and said, I'm too pooed to participate! Edward Lynch is now in the Tire business . . . Ever since he got hit in the head with one, he hasn't been the same . . . about tires, I meanl Well, Larry Robinett is Coach at Ohio State University now . . . and doing quite well. He and his little family of eighteen Cnine boys and nine girlsj . . . and mom Carole! Oh, Miss Janet Shriver and her husband have a nice little business . . . they ovm their own raoeway in Findleyl Yes, and Bonnie sure makes a lovely Movie -Star! She's only had four husbands so far . . . and there isn't anyone who can sing and dance as well as shel Why, what do you know! Ther-e's Miss Carolyn Feterlel She's the head of a very profitable Trucking business . . . also a good Mechanic! QShe ought to be, with all that helpful guidance of Skiplj Say, did you know that Mrs. Donna Aufwendershein is rumiing for the first woman President of the United States! But she is running as Mrs. Jones . . . I guess she'll never get rid of her fancy last names! What is this we hear about our old classmate, Bobby Baker? He has made quite a name for himself in the Skating world . . . he and his Baker Skating Review for 1965 , are showing at the Toledo Sports Arena, this week! The Music Department This page sponsored by ART BEANS MUSIC HGJSE GIRLS' PHYSICAL EDUCATION The Girls' Physical Education Class of 1954-1955 participated in various sport activities during the current school year. At the beginning of the year the class began playing softball when weather permitted. The girls divided into two teams and had a series of games. After winter set in several weeks were spent on various stunts and calisthenics. A considerable amount of time was also spent on learning to play volleyball. The two Physical Education Classes had several games. Even the Eighth grade girls were engaged in several games with the Eighth grade boys. Next the girls had several interesting Basketball games.
