It was full of humorous incidents, catchy phrases, and was character- ized by an excellent cast, Here is a brief summary of the play: Otto Schmultz, a Dutch Detective, is just beginning a course of detective work through a written correspond- ence when Jabo Grabb, a hick constable, posts a sign pub- lishins the fact that two lun- atics ?Punk Jarleck and Hor- tensy Smattersl have .escaped from the asylum. This causes a great excitement in the little town and to make mat- ters worse, if such a thing were possible, fan eloped couple, Augustus and Gladys Coo, make their hideout from Gladys' father, Major fHanni- bal, in the same town. As - Margaret Hurlburt was only expected, the dumb dutch detective has quite a time keeping the various new- comers straight and above sus- pician. The real two lunatics discuss the supposed- to- be lunatics' disappearance with Otto Schmultz and the people around there, unsuspected , Otto is always referring to his book and 'onder trail of the excaped lunaticals'. He wishes to use the reward to settle down with his sweat-heart, Kat- rima Kraut, on the other side of the state of Ohio in Cincin- nati. Through a mixed-up af- fair the play finally comes to a finish with the four couples standing off by themselves and Punk Jarleck and Hortensy Smat- ters interweaving around them. The couples are too occupied to notice them.
