BASEBALL The l958-'59 -season. was ended by Pemberville snatching the title from our boys in the District Tournament. This only served to urge our team on for the new season. During the week before school started, the Bob Cats spent much time getting warmed up for the fall season. Coach Joe Ayers was out with them preparing to meet the soon-to- be opponents. When 'the season really opened, our boys were up-and- ready. This readiness was Old Fort - Bettsville ---- Bloomville ----- Bettsville Thompson - Bettsville New Riegel ------- Bettsville - - - - - ToUn -- ---.. -- maintained throughout the season, but it was not enough at times. Unfavorable weather conditions made playing almost impossible at times. At least, playing was not so enjoyable when heavy rain made mud a draw-back. After the final game, the Bob Cats, in spite of their de- feat, were still as enthusias- tic over the game. Each member of the team counted it time well spent. RESERVES The boys who give you your moneyfs worth at any game are the Reserves. In spite of the fact that they are not so loud- ly cheered on, these boys take as much pride in their vic4 tories as do the Varsity boys. Throughout their basketball season they are working toward the time when they will be the Varsity. Hhe work done by these boys this year was quite good. They made evidences of a team to be proud of next year. Their games were both exciting and entertaining. School spirit and good sportsmanship were developed as second nature to these boyse Our most sincere recognition should be and is given to them SEVENTH AND EIGHTH GRADE BASKETBALL The Junior High basketball team was a huge success'this year. During the season, they played three games all of which they won. At 'times close margins were widened by Robert Mowery who shows great promise for the high school team. The idea uppermost in the minds of these boys when they went into the tournament was to have no losses. This, they accomplished. They were ac- claimed champions at the Counqr Tournament which was held at Clinton Township. The finals, 'which were held at Old Fort, gave the Bettsville fans cause for great suspense and enjoymentg Our boys played a fine game. In the first half they were in the lead by a wide margin. Then in the second half, Melmore crept up on us but not quite enough to stop us. Score- Bettsville 183 Melmore 12. When these boys get into high school, we can 'look for another champion team,
