GRADE ACTIVITIES Many things have been tak- ing place in the grades. Some- times we get so busy with our work that we fail to recognize the importance of the things going on in those grades. Howe ever, we do know they are im- portant. It is these years of experience which are the found- ation upon which our high school people build, Some of these things may be mentioned. Many are worthy of it. The first, second, and third grades have been quite handy with their hands. A flag of the United States made of red, white, and blue paper links, reading and spe l ng workbooks, paper clocks, wal plaques, reading charts, and beautifully colored pictures of many birds are a few of the things which they have done. In the fourth and :'fifth grades, electric charts and all sorts of things made of wood with the use of a jig- saw predominated their hand work. The fifth and sixth grad- ers pride themselves on their room speaker which was urchas- ed by,each one earning IS! to- ward its purchase. Those people who have per- fect attendance records are Betty Snyder, Leland Harrison, Richard Kimmet, Raymond Kim- met, Eldred Wolgamuth, Ned Web- er, Alice Lou King, Donna Rose Fronts, and Arden Craun, The seventh graders start- ed their high school career by electing of icers as follows, President, Alta May Millerg Vice President, Leona Millirom Secretary, Dwight Holzworthg Treasurer, Jean Lynch, Sponson Miss Lee, Those activities in which they participated were few but very good experience. Several of he boys and girls made geadway .on then, basketball ploor. Alice King and Levon Shriver entered the Speaking Contest. Donald Stahl repre- sented the class in the County Spelling Contest. Bill Windau was representative in the Stu- dent Council. Officers elected by the eight grade were as ifollows: President, Raymond Maukg Vice President, Lois Baker, Secre- tary-Treasurer, Joanne Swick- ard, Sponsor, Miss Hurlburt, Glenn Marshall was chosen to represent them in the Student Council. The class presented a very fine chapel program and assisted in the Recordio pro- gram. They competed in a lo- cal vocal contest. Lois Bak- er and Philip Thompson 'were winners. The judge was Miss Margaret Bode from Old Fort, So we see that through the first eight grades many worthwhile activities are car- ried on only to make better high school students.
