Mr Freudenrelch Miss Skevington We the Class of nineteen fifty-one . . . . . take pride in dedicating this book to Mr. Freudenreich and Miss Skevington. It is a hard iob to demonstrate the subtleties and beauties of the English language in a class- room. These are two who have eminently done the iob, instilling in us the fundamentals and imparting to us their knowledge and apprecia- tion for English. Their interest and faith in us as individuals has done much to inspire us with needed self-confidence to make a strong start in our future lives. I. A W aff' The 1950 Bethlehem Central baseball team won te..- of fifteen games, winning five of the Eastern Scholastic Conference for a third place finish. Captain and center-fielder Tom Lewis paced the team in about every offensive department, batting over .450, as well as giving an excellent performance in the field. The rest of the team was well balanced and the pitching staff was exceptionally strong. All things taken into consideration, the year was a successful one, since the Eagles placed higher this year in the E.S.C. than they have since the organization of that conference. 62 'ff' - Hllll H131 UEHH'S lllllllflllllfll .. ist row: Van Woert, Bushnell, Freeman, Lewis, Bainer, Warner, Guertze, Street, Hotaling 2nd row: Van Hoven, manager, Morway, Shear, Gordon, Dixon, Hammond, Morgan Reynolds, Pitz, McNary, Pense-manager. 3rd row: Mr. Cleaves, Vadney, Green Warner, Van Volkenburgh, Frisbee, Amos, Dawes-manager. The 1950 Bethlehem Central track team completed the season unde- feated in seven meets. This was the second consecutive undefeated season for the Eagles. Outpointing Hudson, Albany Academy, and Albany High in dual meets, the cindermen went on to cop the Eastern Scholastic Conference Meet, the Saratoga Invitational, the Albany City meet, and the Class C championship in the Section II finals. Not stopping here, the Eagles were well represented in the All-State Meet at West Point, sending our relay team, pole vault, and broad iump men down the Hudson. Billy Gordon, iumping 21 feet took third place in this meet. The Eagles of 1950 had excellent first man strength in all events and good second and third men in about half. The sprints were the events of the greatest depth, with the pole vault coming second. The weights also had excellent reserve along with the 88O. Lettermen for the year were: Captain John Bainer, Bill Gordon, Russ Freeman, Tom Lewis, Larry Morway, Frank Vadney, Bob Bushnell, Bill Warner, Frank Amos, Dick Van Woert, Bill Green, Bill Dixon, Lee Frisbee, and George Shear. 63 ..lIHlllP'S IIUUHT IHEII sa, Mr. Camp, Cal Sigler, Dick Foss, Dale Knox, Bob Morgan, Ken Thatcher. Captained by Dale Knox and under the watch- ful eye of Mr. Camp, the 1950 tennis men had a successful season. Although many matches were rained out, the schedule included Milne, Knott Terrace, Columbia, and Albany Academy. Stressing participation as well as winning games, the Camp men found a winner in Dale Knox. Dale, coupled with Don Henderson, made up the No. 'I doubles combination.
