God's Finger Touched Them And They Slept. M RICHARD CRAWFORD lt was in l955 that Richard came to our school as a ninth grader from the Deemston Grade School. His broad, pleasant smile and his liking for people soon made him many friends among the students and teachers. Richard lived on a farm, and his conversation usually concerned his farm work and his hobby, raising rabbits. For a while he was a Boy Scout, he participated in the Youth Fellowship and other church activities. He was a trombonist in the school band. Whatever Richard did, he did with enthusiasm, Near the end of his junior year, when illness caused him to be out of school, he was never known to complain. When he returned at the beginning of his senior year, Richard was still enthusiastic, cheerful, smiling, and hard-working. After several months as a member of the Class of l959, illness again required Richard to withdraw from school. Then, on November l2, l958, Richard passed away. By such a memorial page as this, we hope to be continually reminded of so well-loved a classmate. We know that having had Richard as a friend has made us better persons and our school a happier place. We shall always value our association with him. Gordon Lee Prentice, son of Reverend and Mrs. Gordon Prentice, came from Butler, Pennsylvania, with his parents and his brother Robert at the age of l5. While living in Butler, he attended Butler Junior High School, participating in such school activities as the band, the chorus, the male quartet, and football, his favorite sport. ln September, l958, he entered Bethlehem- Center Senior High School and soon made many new friends. He pursued the academic course, and, in addition to his studies, he was extremely active in his church work. Then, as a result of a sudden illness, Gordon was taken to the Presbyterian Hospital in Pitts- burgh. A few weeks later, on October l9, l958, he passed away. Gordon is now studying in the greatest school under the greatest Teacher of all. GORDON L. PRENTICE
