PHOPHECY It is now 1952, three years after that brilliant class of 'M9 graduated from dear old Bethesda This class has really gone ahead in the world Continue to read and you will see what I mean Peggy Dampier, Betty Ellis, and I graduated from a com mercial school and are now Civil Service Stenographers decided the other day that we would likein know what the rest of our class was doing, so we got a leave of absence and gal avanted all over town getting the inside dope on everyone course we were W e took a Wilder was the results of the escorted by our Civil Service boy friends taxi into town and did we take wings! Fred driver The radio was going and we got the State N Y U basketball gme State won, of course,ftr Norman Adams plays for them. On the way we passed Robert Sherron's DIAMOND CASINO where they say he is doing pretty well We d1dn't stop Strange as it nayseem we arrived safely in town and went to Walgreen's for a coke There we found Billie Smith asman ager will and her best friend, Rachel Nichols, as assistant They probably marry the soda jerkers We started down the street and whom should we meet but Faye Jones,ourfor-mer class mate, with an arm full of books We were to attend a play at U N C that night so we stopped at a beauty parlor to get our hair fixed The beau ticians were none omer than Betty Johnson and Hazel Whitfield If yan' hair 1sn't curled when they get through with you, well you're hopeless From there we went in dinner, and whom should we see at a table across the room but two naval officers, Bobby Travis and Judd Booth Bet they are having fun chasing those Waves around At another table we saw Billy Fox, who is now a pilot in the Air Force Considering the girl he was with, thatuniform must be getting him places We finished dinner and caught a bm out to the University where three of our former class mates, Annie Lou Underwood, . Evelyn McKinney, and Pattie Lou Ladd were starring hxa class play It was a comedy, so you can imagine how well they did their parts As we were leaving we saw a beautiful picture hanging on the wall that seemed to be getting everyone's t tention After a closer look we found that it was a master piece by Mavis Bane, an old classmate of ours We might hmm known she would turn out to be an artist Wel, after an enjoyable evening we caught a bus back t town and James Carlton was the driver You can bet your bot tom dollar we got there in a hurry James is another one of our former seniors who loved to burn the pavement Before We left we pickedugma paper atthe news stand to read on the way back As always, we turned tathe comic section and there was a new comic strip by Carl Harris It was so crazy, but what else could be expected from him tally, this hotel is managed by Edward Linthicum ard Paul Crisp. They say they have the best in everything, this could be a matter of opinion When we got to our room we had plenty of bills One was from the Durham Morning Herald reminding us that news isn 't free any more The secretary was Elizabeth Dorman They say she just loves her job, I wonder why By that time all sensible people would but we were thirsty, so we went down to the for a coke There at one of the booths was We had no idea what she was doing,but found have been in bed corner drugstore Snodean Collins that she was the secretary for the firm next door Lucky boss! On the way back to his delivery truck H grocery stores He has raising everything from work late Finally we reached at the way the class of the hotel we met Carlton Clifton with owns a large fanm and sells to local become an industrious farmer who is chickens to children He surely does our room and turned 1n,qu1te content ' 9 was getting up in the world Janet Glenn a p ' o We got back bathe hotel and went to our rooms.
