-ya- I1 Somethmg new was lmtnated durmg the school year each member of the scho 1ast1c team who placed ln the dlstrxct scholarshlp tests was awarded a letter nn rec ogn1t1on of h1s scholastxc ablhty There were fourteen partlclpants ln the d1str1ct test out of these fourteen s1x were vxctorxous The Freshmen have a good start they have three members who placed Davxd Lee Lucas was fxfth ln Latxn I Janet Mechem was flfth 1n general scxence and Susan I-Ieskett fourteenth m Enghsh IX The Sophomores were ln there worklng and we hope they have better luck next year Roger Wood representlng the Junior Class placed second ln Amerlcan Hlstory The Semors have two v1ctor1ous members Shmrley Mechem who placed second m bookkeepmg and John Wood who had fxrst place m soclal studxes Four of these students Shirley Mechem Davxd Lee Lucas Roger Wood and John Wood placed mn the state xn thexr Own dlvlsxon John Wood took speclal honors by placmg m the state regardless of classxfx catxons Thls scholastxc group was honored wxth a banquet at whxch t1me the teachers awarded each member an award pm ln recogmtlon of thexr achlevement Mr. Lynn IS the prmcxpal of our school. H teaches hmstory, socxal stud1es, hxgh school arlthmetlc and psychology. They have certainly had the training required. Their course has covered: The Well- Fed Family, Meal Plan- ning and Preparation, The Vfell-Planned and Furnished Home, The Well-Managed Home, The Well-Bred Girl and Her Social Relation:-hips. lt sounds as if they've been busy, doesn't it? But, it is no wonder that they have had such interest in learning these practical and worth-while subjects since they are taught by such a capable teacher as Miss Burns.
