It is the end of a certain piece of work, a milestone in life's progress for each of you who is to receive his or her high school diploma. Grad- uating from high school marks the achievement of a certain wonderful goal, but it does not mean that edu- cation is complete. You will con- tinue to learn as long as you live. Some of you are planning to go on to school for further formal train- ing, others of you will choose other fields of endeavor. ROGERS, the '63 edition c the Hilltopper. 14 Halloween The Halloween Carnival was a big success. There were basketball contests, costume contests, dancing, plenty of popcorn and hot dogs to eat, anda King and Queen contest. In addition, a Prince and Prin- cess contest was held. Betty Lynn Jones, a Sopho- more, was chosen Queenand Jerry Gentry, a Junior, was chosen King. Faye Gentry, Princess, and Jimmy Rogers, Prince, were chosen from the ele- mentary grades. The dance wasthoroughly enjoyed by the high school students. There were witches and goblins to be seen everywhere. The little tots were thrilled by all the confusion and congestion. A bicycle was given away as a door prize to con- clude the evening. Miss Dare Tingen was chosen Maid of Honor. The Queen was chosen by the Student Body. There were attendants from the four classes. Miss Peggy Jones, escorted by Richard Dickerson, was chosen Valentine Queenof '62 by the student body. The Maid of Honor was Miss Gail Gentry escorted by Eddie Cox. The Junior attendants were Miss Dare Tingen, escorted by Bill Joe Fuller, and Miss Gay Davis, escorted by Malcolm Dunkley. The Senior attendants were Miss Delaine Day, escorted by Wallace Yarbrough, and Miss Paula Clayton, escorted by Brannon Day. The Sophomore attendant was Miss Linda Long, escorted by Ben Berry, and the Freshman attendant was Miss Becky Rogers, escorted by Bill Berry.
