Johnson. 4 Congratulations and best wishes to the Class of 1959. This was the year we were introduced to the seniors through initiation. We elected class officers: Chip Farnham, president; Curt Taylor, vice-president; Anita Trapasso, secretary; and Robert Hennessey, treasurer. The first dance we gave was called The Butterfly Chase,” a title we shall never forget. SOPHOMORE YEAR This was the year we began to feel like we really belonged. The class officers were Chip Farnham, president; Bob Boyd, vice-president; Kayanne Straiton, secretary; and Bob Hennessey, treasurer. The girls got a chance to turn the tables with a twirp dance called The Chicks’ Pick.” We had a class picnic in June at Squantz Pond, a time enjoyed by all. The year ended with thoughts of our future. JUNIOR YEAR At last we were upperclassmen. The'class officers were Joe Curesky, presi- dent; Tom Steck, vice-president; Carol Meade, secretary; and Bob Hennessey, treasurer. In October we staged our minstrel called Club ’59.” It was a show presented in a night club atmosphere. B.H.S. will never see another show like that one! We shall always remember our first prom, For Sentimental Reasons,” held on Valentine’s Day. We ended this year looking forward to being seniors. SENIOR YEAR This was to be our final year in B.H.S. The class officers were Barbara Thomas, president; Ed English, vice-president; Tom Steck, secretary; and Bob Hennessey, treasurer. Our senior play was entitled Seventeenth Summer,” a production mixed with many emotions. The big dance of the year, the senior prom, was held in May. After this came the last week of our high school careers. It was the week of graduation, class night, parent night, class banquet, class picnic, and the big moment, Commencement Day. The last of four wonderful years at last had come to an end, filled with thoughts that shall be always remembered THROUGH THE YEARS. 12 Linda Hampton. Edward English, whose chain of drug stores now extends throughout New England, came over a week in advance and met with Thomas Steck, head of Marine Corps activities here on the island, and Leslie Pearlman, editor of the controversial Honolulu Inquirer. Together they made all the necessary arrangements with Michael Burns, manager of the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, and Mary Staib, secretary to Robert Boyd, manager of the Hono- lulu High Spot, Hawaii's largest and most popular night club. In Washington, D. C, chairman Barbara Thomas, who recently rewrote the United States Constitution, handled all the reservations assisted by Elisabeth Shaw, mayor of Boston; Linda Hampton and Helen Hull, head nurses at Leahy Clinic; Janice Rubley, executive secretary at Senior Lumber Company; and Bryant Griffin, star of C.B.S. radio’s Bryant Giffin and His Friends.” The Jo-L Trio, which features the guitar playing of Carolyn Boyer and the singing of crooner James Spiegelhalter, will provide the music. After the celebrations here and our other activities, members of the class will entertain us at our final dinner at the end of the week. Keith Managan, John Nelson, and Theodore Dratch, a professional trio, will dance their now famous hula. Thomas Angotti, male lead with the Newtown Players, will present a skit assisted by New York model Patricia Parsons, and industrial tycoon Gardner Ayres, now married to movie actress Sally Starr. Joanna Schmuecker and Nancy Evans will put on their song and dance act which is sweeping Las Vegas by storm. The airport has been buzzing with planes bringing our classmates over from the mainland. First vice president of First National Stores, Harold Wheeler, piloted his own private plane carrying with him former night club singer, Kayanne Straiton and her 38 PROPHECY family of six; Joseph Reel, president of the Bethel Bank; Guy Howard, professional pho- tographer; businessman Daniel Grosso who just bought another parking lot in Bethel; and Joseph Curesky, ringmaster of the Ringling Brothers, Barnum, and Bailey Circus. Our careergirls, commercial artist Lydia Taggart, U.S. delegate to the U.N. Barbara Downs, beautician Lea Thayer, fashion designer Carol Meade, Macy’s bridal consultant Nancy McNamara, interior decorator Patricia Eichhom, and Carol Tenk, star of T.V. commercials flew in from New York City. Also arriving from New York, but by jet, were Sandra Davis, director of the Broadway hit South Atantic,” and Constance Falardeau, author of the best-selling novel, Fountain Place. Congresswoman Katherine Denninger and Gilbert Bastos, who plays taps at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, flew in from Washington, D.C. Head of B. H. S.'s math depart- ment, Marcia Sturdevant, flew in from the ultra-modern Danbury Airport with vacation- ing Donna Kehoe, Dean of Women at U Conn; Rensselaer's Professor of Chemistry and Physics, Dr. James Bridges, who recently completed his twenty-fifth science fiction book; architect, Raymond Jennings; professional football player, Robert Hennessey; and Lawrence Straiton, owner of the Straiton Trailer Truck line. Director of the Trans-World Ocean Liner Company, Corrine Cistoldi, arrived aboard one of her company's ships, which also brought dentist, Robert Cher; his dental hygienist, Bernich Nash; Admiral of the U. S. Navy, Charles Clapp; and Lynn Zukas and Edna Kellogg, partners in the Blue Grass Horse Ranch just outside Monticello, New York. Missionary Carol Wright came over on a slow boat from China that stopped at Australia where Carol Ziolkowski, Australian sheep farmer, joined her. Elaine Rossi, wife of the U. S. Ambassador to Italy and Patricia DeLong, U. S. Olympic Tennis star, have just arrived on the last flight from Rome, where the Olympic games are being held this year. Now that they've arrived we're all together at last and ready to begin our wonderful week’s reunion in glorious Honolulu. 39 HOROSCOPE NAME FAVORITE FAVORITE NICKNAME EXPRESSION PASTIME Thomas Angotti Tom” Crazy.” Sleeping Gardner Ayres Gard” Greetings.
