Without their devotion and guidance we, the class of 1958, could not have succeeded. 3 There is an especially warm spot in my heart for the class of nineteen hundred fifty eight. Yours is the first class that I have watched through all twelve years of formal schooling. I am proud of the way you have groXvn and matured. I hope that each member of the class will feel that it is a personal message when 1 say to all, May you, with God’s guidance, continue to grow in wisdom and service to mankind. Good luck in the years ahead!” RALPH M. T. JOHNSON Superintendent of Schools 4 Every man is my superior in some way, in that, I learn from him. By the way, is this your first trip out in space? Yes, and I think it is a wonderful idea for a class reunion. Who thought it up? Jimmy Grise, our senior class president. Come to think of it, it does sound like Jimmy. Who else could think up such a novel idea? Just think, ten years ago today we were graduating. .Doesn t it seem like an eternity. It certainly does. Why 1 can remember when we were writing the class history for the yearbook that we found it difficult to remember the class officers, and that was only four years later. Don't I know! But there is one thing that I know I never shall forget. What was that? The Senior play, of course. Don’t you remember Paint The Town Pink? Certainly I do. Who could forget it, especially when Jack Leonard added that extra line of Is there a dog in it? What knocked me was when Paulette LaCava sat in the pink paint and ruined three outfits. All I can say is, that it was a good thing Miss Fisher had enough dresses. Remember the brain storming session? That was a real riot, especially with Maureen Reynolds, Pat Baldwin, and Eddie Giardina. Why with that combination they could have made history. Speaking of brain storming, why don’t we try it again? After all, we have at least fifteen minutes before we hit the space platform. What are we going to brain storm on? Well, since this is a class reunion, why not reminisce on the wonderful, carefree days when we were back at Bethel High. When I count three, let us begin. I, 2, 3 — go. Freshman Year class officers were: President, Mary Lou Durgy; Vice-President, Secretary, Pat Callow; and Treasurer, Wait a minute, what about the activities? Don't tell me we studied all the time. Come to think of it, we had the Freshman Reception. Oh yes, remember when Peggy Corbett had to count a whole jar full of beans, and John Showalter did Romeo and Juliet with Faith Zebroski. John left us in our Sophomore year, and Faith left in our Junior year. What about the Freshman Dance? Oh yes, wasn’t that a twerp dance? It certainly was. In fact, all of our dances were twerp style. Sophomore year we had our Sadie Hawkins Hop. Who were our class officers that year? Let me see. President, Edward Archer; Vice-President, Robert Allen; Secretary, Patricia Callow; and Treasurer, George Hugyo. Did anything exciting happen that year? 1 don’t believe so. (Interruption — a message) The pilot, John Fitton, just radioed back that we have less than ten minutes before landing, so keep coming with more information. Junior year, that was a year to remember. Junior Minstrel with our favorite basketball players Kenny Taylor and George Hugyo singing Goobers Peas. I don't think I'll ever forget George Bacevic singing Walking In The Rain.” Remember Albin Hulgren with the empty suitcase? How could I forget? My vocal chords are still sore from yelling. Who were our class officers that year? President, Eddie Archer; Vice-President, Bob Allen; Secreary, Patricia Callow; and Treasurer, George Hugyo. (Interruption) What is that nice sound coming from the rear of the ship? I don’t know. Ask the stewardess, Nancy Larsen. She might know. Don’t you recall the music? That is the theme song of our Junior Prom Three Coins in the Fountain.” (Interruption ) ZOOM . . . ZOOM. Look, there go two rocket ships. Are they racing? From what I can see they are. Who is in the lead? Larry Hull in the Thunderbird Rocket is ahead by a nose, and Floyd in his Chevy Corvette is steadily catching up. Wait a minute. I believe they are being chased by a police rocket. Look who it driving it, Betsy Noxon, the only policewoman in the space patrol. Back to the Junior Year. That year Maureen Reynolds and Kenny Taylor were crowned king and queen of the prom. All passengers secure your safety chairs. We are now about to hit the space platform. I can't wait until we get there. Just think of seeing all our classmates again. Why, it will be like old times. . to hear that Nancy Kellogg and Priscilla Steck have opened a girls' gym with Martina Federici as Physical Fitness Director. . to learn that Pat Callow and Roberta Bozzomo own the Tweed Shop with all the latest fashions from France, while Mary Lacey does most of the modeling. . to find that Harry MacKinnon is the manager of the Boston Celtics. . to see Evelyn Mehlin as mechanic to her own car. . to know Frank Polubinski plays for the San Francisco Giants. . to hear Terry Shannon is making coffee in Danbury Teachers College laboratory. . to see Peggy Corbett head nurse at Danbury Hospital with her assistant, Maureen Reynolds. . to see Mr. and Mrs. Larry Hull (the Mrs. better known as Paulette LaCava to us) riding by in one of their many new sports cars. . to see Kenny Taylor, Eddie Giardina, and George Hugyo all playing basketball for the Moon Team with Pat Baldwin cheering them on. . to see that after trying all other occupations, Jack Leonard, in all desperation, turned to being a clown. We seem to think it fits his personality. . to see Betsy Noxon purchasing agent for Mullaney's, with her assistant George Bacevic. . to hear John Fitton, commander of a space patrol, with his right hand man Floyd Dibble, running the space ships on the fuel that the great scientist, Dr. Jim Grise, discovered. . to see Nancy Larsen, the famous male manicurist, doing the hands of the famous atomic minded tycoon, Albin Hultgren. If all these things came true, I would be surprised, wouldn't you? PROPHECY A reunion—after ten long years—finally a reunion. When Mr. Schulster left, we lost another friend. He was an efficient director and leader of athletics. 48 Tluthop Frolics Our class had just as much fun putting on our Junior Minstrel as the audience did watching it. Everyone in the class took part and helped in some small or large way. We had the traditional Inerductor, Edward Archer, and of course the humorous end men. Our thanks go to Mr. Blum who helped and guided us through the planning and presentation of the Junior Frolics. JUNIOR PROM We are extremely proud of our Junior Prom. The decorations were complemented and exclaimed over throughout Bethel High School. Done in the pastel colors of Spring, the gymnasium was transformed into a lovely ballroom. The center of attraction was a wishing fountain that really worked (after many a false start). The beautiful and modest queen of the affair was Miss Maureen Reynolds and our proud and handsome king was Kenneth Taylor. 51 )}) OMK Ji«yf bU . —JL 1 IUI MAIN CHARACTERS Mr. Clarke.............Robert Allen Rem Tyler..________.Jack Leonard Sally Renwick.....Patricia O’Keefe Christy Smith...............Deanna Sywak Directed by Miss A. The starting five were all from our own Senior Class. Kenny Taylor, star player, broke the all-time school record with forty points. The hard working seniors on this year’s team were: Kenneth Taylor, captain, and Edward Giardina, Douglas Wilson, Edward Archer, Jon Scolpino, and George Hugyo.
