Class H1story Four years ago September 1954 on a Tuesday morntng f1fty s1X happy freshmen entered the portals of Bethel Hlgh School Because of the large group we were dlvtded alphabettcally for our homerooms nxne and eleven respectlvely Our not too happy advrsors were Mr Orendo and Mr Rermer Durlng thls year f1rst of all we became acquaxnted w1th our classmates and also the new students we or ganlzed our class mth the followlng offlcers Prestdent Bruce Younker VICC Pres1dent Dorothy Berger Secre tary Patrlcla Nlnkovlth and Treasurer Arlene Bre1d1gan Not too many outstandlng thtngs occurred durlng thls year but me do remember the heated arguments me had about who goes first lnto llne for lunch Another memory was the tlme Jerry Foreman performed a medlcal operatton rn 91 assembly 911 Sectton gave Mr Relmer dts c1pl1nary troubles However we both d1d take a tr1p to the Readlng Court House and TSICVISIOD and R3d1O studlos As Sophomores we d1d routlne busrness such as elettxng class offrcers chooslng class colors selettlng tlass jackets and rrngs Isuppose we were rather hard on our parents pocketbooks When our jackets came we knew they were the best ones selected We also took a fleld tr1p to the Phtladelphra Zoo We had our mlserres and fun that day because of xnclement weather But all rn all xt was a wonderful experlence Thts year we also sponsored the St Patrlck s Dance whtch had to be cancelled because of a snow storm It was held later on and called the Sprtng Froltc In our Junlor year we traveled to Room 10 w1th Mrs Snyder as our homeroom teacher Although we trled to be perfect angels for her some of us lost our happy homes because of talkrng too much The boys tr1ed to see how much they could get away w1th Boy they were nu1sances to the nth degree If any trouble occurred the Eleventh Graders were certalnly busy dlsplaylng them We also sponsored a food sale ln November and the Chrrstmas Dance called the Snowflake Our tr1p th1s year was to Gettysburg wrth Mr Wenrtch as our chaper one Was he kept busy tryrng to keep order' It was also durtng vacauon followlng thts year that we paraded 1U the County F1remen s Parade Remember how we passed out l1ke fl1es because of the heat' Flnally tn September of 1957 our dream came true we were Senlors Th1S year we added another class member to our group Barbara Stewart who came from Readlng l-l1gh Agatn we elected class Off1CCfS But th1s year we looked forward to one goal graduauon To reach thls goal meant addltxonal supertor class work plus extra currrcular act1v1t1es such as Band County Band and Chorus Sen1or Class Play and Our Yearbook Our Class Play called The Angell Brats w1ll long be remembered by the cast because of lectures g1ven Us by Mr Good and by Mrs Snyder s threats to walk out 1f we farled to memorlze our lrnes The hlghllght of course was our Yearbook whlch took many mghts of steady work to get II 1n shape for the publ1shers Some specral attracttons occupted us rn thxs year such as Old Clothes Day We out d1d the others by havlng the glrls wear plnafores carry1ng mzlkrng pa1ls weartng short socks and rlbbons The boys were farm ers Thrs year also so many cookles dtsappeared from the Home Ec room We wonder who that could have been to cause th1s Can you guess? In recent years the Sen1or Prom has become one of the Commencement ACIIVIIISS W had ours and rt was a tremendous success The Student Counctl also sponsored a SCIIIOI Breakfast featurrng ham and eggs for us whrch was htghly apprecrated Thanks Qulte a few tr1ps were enjoyed by us but the best tr1p was our Sen1or tr1p to Washlngton D C It was a long strenuous day for us but me survlved It was both educattonal and recreational and w1ll be remembered by us ID years to come As the year drew to a close we drrected our mrnds and thoughts to frnal tests class Nrte and Commencement We suddenly reahzed that the years have flown by very fast to br1ng us to the end of the best years of our lrves our school years 31 O ' ' --' 1 . 1 1 1 Q .
