Actually, there's a great deal more to it than that . . . a bandleader must have many years of educationg he must know just what function is performed by each of the various sections of his bandg and most important, he must see that each member of the band is doing his part to make it a fine organization, so that there will be no sour notesi' in performance. An extra special Hfanfarei' to Dr. Siedle, Senior High Principal, and Mr. Lauda, Junior High Principal, for proving them- selves fine and able ubandleadersf, MJ' Ll'8Cf0I'f5 In the world of music, directors have the all-important job of picking the musical numbers that they feel would comprise a good program for their orchestra. Here at Bethel, the School Board acts as the director of our orchestra-planning our program so t.hat we may gain the most from playing in this orchestra, Under the supervision of Mr. VVilliam A. Tissue, President, and lVIr. Denny J. Smith, Vice-President, the board has functioned smoothly, promoting our or- chestra and deciding just what musical numbersv they might put on the program to make school more enjoyable for us. Through their continued efforts and hard work, our Horchestrai' has risen to take its place among the finest, with the assurance that it will long remain there. ELZITJLGCJEPJ DR. SIEDLE MR. LAUDA

omlaoderd 1 MR. SPENCE MR. HARTLIEB At the top of t.he musical world stand the foremost musicians from all fields-those who have proved themselves to be out- standing through years of hard work and experience. At the top of Bethel's musical world stands Dr. Harry H. llloore, Supervising Principal and the able conductor of our orchestra.,' What makes a good conductor? First, he must have the profound skills neces- sary to lead his orchestra well, and sec- ondly, he must be able to understand and integrate each member of his orches- tra into a fine symphony of sound. In the three years Dr. Moore has been at Bethel, his genuine interest, foresight, and great concern about meeting the needs of each member of his orchestra have made him an important part of our Musical Worldf' and a truly great per- former. 0 When a composer writes an outstanding musical work, he is usually honored by the publishing, and perhaps even the playing of his work by some famous orchestra. In education, the honor is the knowl- edge that through careful composition and organization, hundreds of young people will go out into the world well- equipped to face the future. Mr. Spence, Co-ordinator of Curricu- lu1n, and hir. Hartlieb, Administrative Assistant, through their sincere efforts toward improving our schools, have shown themselves to be able composers, planning the necessary educational back- grounds to make us well-rounded persons and writing our Song of Life in a most enjoyable way. .ibn moore MJ' C0l'l6!M,Ct0l' - -i
