They are the representatives of the stockholders of the circus, and their job is to see that the circus is run in accordance with the wishes of the majority of the stockholders and to meet the needs of the performers. It is their responsibility to see that performers are properly trained so that they may successfully compete with others in that great performance-life. The members who make up this board are: Mr. Lawrence Fife, President, Mr. Allan Reid, Vice Presidentg Mrs. Eleanor Knabe, Treasurer, Mr. Herbert Wissingerp Mr. Denny Smith, Mr. William Parmelee, and Mr. Kenneth Carson. Mr. Frank lack is secretary of the board and it is his duty to see that their plans are carried to The school board determines the curriculum of the school. lt is due to them and the admin- istration that new courses will be offered next year, and the new shops, equipment, and facili- ties are an example of their progressive think- ing and planning. Within the last few years, Bethel has been constantly growing and this growth has created a great problem in the school system. The board is to be commended for its handling of this problem. Last spring construction work was begun on a new high school, which will be completed this spring. Behind the scenes of our circus, but a very es- sential part of it, are the school secretaries. Mrs. Huber handles most of the finances, and Mrs. McKelvie does the stenographic Work. Mrs. Hansell, recently added to the staff, is Mr. l'lartlieb's secretary and h a n cl l e s some of his clerical work.

This school is owned by the people themselves, but it is operated by the administration-1-Mr. Hartlieb and Mr. Buck. Mr. T. M. Buck, the supervising principal, who has given his capable services for twenty- three years, sends this message: Seniorsel hope you have not reached your goal with graduation from high schoole that you are determined to go forward and to use all that you have learned here as a tool to gain more learning. Only a few may go on to college, but everyone may have a desire to know more and to have more skills. That de- sire can be met in many ways to push your hori- zon farther and to grow bigger and better. The Time and Energy of Youth are Yours- use them. Mr. Hartlieb, principal of the high school, has been at Bethel since 1939. He served as a first lieutenant during World War ll. Before becoming principal, Mr. Hartlieb taught Ameri- can History and P. Q. D. l-le became principal in 1949 and has served in this position ever since.
