I was re to burn the old newspapers when IW attention was drawn to a paper dated July 16,196 . As I looked through the old paper, I found a pietui-. of Bob Ashworth, President of General Motors. Bob now furnishes a car for the Bethel Drivers Training Course. The classified ad section was mostly filled with Gene's Super Shell Station. Gene Reaver, who received his training at Phoneton Garage, will open a station soon. Below I found a small ad of the World's Largest Drug Store. Proprietor Phyllis Halderman says she owes her success to a small drug store where she worked after school. When I came to the page of deaths and vital statistics, I saw that Miss Bernice Wirl, farmer joke teller, was killed by the comeback of one of her own personal jokes. Looking further, I came to a small notice that David DeCamp, best sign painter in the Mid-West had just signed a contract to letter signs on the Empire State Building. I turned to the TV section and saw the headlines - World's Champion Woman Wrestler, Joyce Pack, will Defend Title Tonight On Channel BHS. It is said that she became in- terested in wrestling when she tried to take her part in American Government class. Glancing on down the column, I saw that Hodges Roller Derby was to be televised Saturday with their most valuable skater, Hrs. Tom Peyton, former Marlene Johns. The sports page had a huge headline reading: Jim Journell Signs Contract With Lakers. Jim has been No. 1 player in pro-basketball for three years straight. Next to that item was a story stating that farm owner, Jim Mumford, and car de- signer, Joe Sherman, had left for the Mexico Road Race. They have won the race for six straight years with their Lincoln. Under Social Glances, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Friend, former Helen Norris, were an- nouncing the birth of their tenth child. She gave up her career as a. beauty operator. The Markets and Finance page had a small article telling that Daniel Jones, Presi- dent of Honey Creek Fur Compaq, had flown to New York to sell his pelts. Under Late Bulletins was an item stating that the Wo:-ld's Hardest Problem had been solved by the man with a 'Figure-Eight' for his head--Gene Newbright. An editorial, 'How I Became Interested in the Editorial Business by Viola Hess, revealed that it began at Bethel Local when she was editor of the school annual. Miss Barbara Jo Studebaker was chosen as the 'most reasonable' teacher of the Miami County Schools. Barbara Jo also has an interest in her father's business. I then read that Mrs. Don McFarland, formerly Pat Kingery, spends most of her time cooking and caring for her eight children. Her husband is on a cruise with the Navy. Returning to the sports page I ran a 311311 dm, had watched the Navy football team beat Arggozgth the-seg?-232. A al Paul nur Turning to the entertainment I found a hu d Burlesque.
